Cat bite, do I report it?
I recently did drop-in visits for a cat who bit me hard enough to leave bruising (I can provide a photo if needed). For context, he was very friendly during the meet and greet. The biting happened on day 1, and I even took a video that I sent to his owner showing him repeatedly jumping at my leg and attempting to bite me again.
I contacted the owner right away and let her know I was going to cut the first visit short for safety, but that I would return for the next visit wearing pants. I had originally worn shorts because it was 97° with a heat index over 100° in our area. She was very apologetic and said this was the first time he had ever shown aggression.
I consider myself very experienced with cats and have over 220 five-star reviews, most of them from cat clients. I’ve been scratched before, but I’ve never had a cat repeatedly jump at my legs and bite hard enough to cause bruising.
I’m finishing out the current booking, but I would not sit for this cat again in the future.
When it comes time to complete the review, if I answer yes to the question about whether the pet showed aggression or bit someone, what happens next? Is there an investigation? I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble or have them removed from the platform, but I do think it’s important for future sitters to be aware that biting could be a possibility.
EDIT: someone replied that rover may lick me off the platform if I report this?!? Does anyone have experience with this? I am so anti confrontation and the idea of being kicked off the platform makes me want to cry
