MHC or MSW?

Wondering what the specific differences and limitations are for someone who wants to be a therapist between a MHC masters versus pursuing a masters in social work? I’ve read that there are more insurance and job opportunity benefits to the MSW, but I’m truly not as interested in SW as counseling from an education standpoint so I’m leaning towards MHC. I’m looking for specific pros and cons that I can consider.

By the way, I’m in NY if that makes a difference, but also might not stay here after school/licensure

Thanks! :)

MHC degree and moving to a new state

I’m wondering how difficult it is to navigate moving out of state while trying to become a therapist via MHC degree? I’m planning on attending a CUNY MHC program in NY. There is a chance that my family will be relocating in the next few years but we don’t know exactly when. Obviously not until I finish school, but potentially before I finish my supervised hours. Not sure to which state the move will be either. I’m wondering what the easiest and hardest routes are in this situation, i.e. when would the best time to move be vs the worst, what is the likelihood of my education transferring to another state, can I do my hours there, what if we leave in the middle of my supervised hrs years, etc. How important is CACREP? Most of the CUNY schools are not accredited so it might not be an option.
