Its really hard to find something that doesnt just boils down to romance in this fandom
Guy just wants to read something more closer to the canon approach to character dynamics with an actual good plot
Is there even anything or are my hopes too high?
Basically, this is how i see the relationship dynamics he has with each of the members
[Kim Dokja relationships]
Kim Dokja / Yoo Sangah: Troublesome Big Bro / Always worried Younger sister, or BFFs, can go either way
Kim Dokja / Lee Hyunsung: Two nerds from the class becoming best friends (one is a book nerd, other is a military nerd(?))
Kim Dokja / Jung Heewon: Troublesome younger brother / always stressed out older sister due to his shit
Kim Dokja / Lee Jihye: Uncle and Niece (?) , (idk, he behaves like a teasing uncle to her, thats the closest i can think of)
Kim Dokja / Lee Gilyoung: Father and slightly ignored child/ son
Kim Dokja / Shin Yoosung: Father and Favoured Daughter
Kim Dokja / Biyoo: Father and Circumstantially born baby daughter (he loves her regardless)
Now the big two.....
Kim Dokja / Han Sooyoung: Soulmates (Could honestly be interpreted as platonic, romantic or familial, the epilogue really blurs the line a lot), or God / Goddess (i mean, they both technically were the precipice where the whole verse was created)
Kim Dokja / Yoo Jonghyuk: "Life and Death Companions" (i really dont know if there really is any other term that can truly describe the essense of their relationship), jonghyuk has been a father, a brother, an idol, his best friend.....heck even in a weird way, a paradoxical son as well, all packaged into one, transcending fiction and reality itself.
I see these last two relationships as such:
Dokja/jonghyuk relationship is the "face" of the story, it is the engine that moves it, it gives it its form and distinct shape.
While the dokja/sooyoung relationship is the "soul" of the story, as kdj/yjh gave it a shape, then kdj/hsy gave it the substance, it rounds up the story by giving it its meaning.
