Balsam Fir Sachets

A friend's brother who has a Christmas Tree farm died recently. I am making balsam fir sachets for her family with needles from his trees.

It's a good way to experiment with patterns and make something to be used. Pictures of one completed sachet and one in progress with backsides too.

Finished knitting needle case

Here is my completed knitting needle case which I am making as a gift. I am not a perfect seamstress but I think the sashiko makes up for that.

With luck this will be a knitting needle case tomorrow. I am really pushing myself both in scope and time. I'm hoping I don't reawaken my carpal tunnel. :)

Also need to decide what to do between the panels. Maybe just outline each.

I am just a beginner so sometimes I mess up the pattern and sometimes the stitches get wonky. But hey! That's how you know it's handmade.

Front and back and detailed back of the in-progress panel.

I started sashiko stitching a couple of months ago with a preprinted sampler which I realized was probably not the best place for me to start.

So I moved on to making zokin (cleaning cloths) out of old kitchen towels as practice. They are a great practice item for drawing your own patterns and are also very useful. Front and back pictures included
