What is the best way to manage a wild patch of the garden?

Should I just never cut it again? Cut it every few months?

Currently have lots of clover, buttercup and birds foot trefoil in there amongst the tall grass

Very happy with how my herbs are coming along but what can I plant in the spot under the table where all the grass has died? It gets a little sun on summer mornings but that’s about all. I’d love something with a bit of colour.
