Points, miles and rewards are the key to unlocking solo travel
I see so many women on this sub asking how to make travel economically accessible to themselves and this is the secret. Now this advice does not apply to someone who is in debt, but getting any kind of travel reward credit card and using it as your debit card for all available purchases will rack up miles/points faster than anything. The key is like a debit card, you aren’t ever carrying a balance. You pay it off every month and watch it grow. Which one you get all depends on your needs and wants for travel. Also sign up for every single loyalty program whenever you stay somewhere. Even if it’s a small program you think you might never use the points to. When booking always check your point conversions and points offers. I was lucky enough to travel for a work a ton starting out and made sure to have my own accounts Hilton, United, Marriott, etc. I was able to spend 5 nights at the Waldorf in London on my last trip paying in just my points and that was just what I had earned over the last year. I use my points regularly and about 70% of my stays are covered by points. I personally have a Hilton Amex (even though I don’t prefer Hiltons, it made the most sense for my life and work) and a Capitol One Venture X (this is my newest and I’ll see if I like it over the next year). I’ve have never and probably will never get an airline specific card but that’s also a route you can go. I find I get just as many perks from my airline miles alone that a card wouldn’t do anything but lock me into one airline. Just my 2 cents on something I see a ton on here!
