Rome to Assisi trip : June 9-11 / Trenitalia strike

Hi all,

Looking for your advice regarding part of our Italy trip from Rome to Assisi after learning there will be Trenitalia strike on our scheduled travelling dates.

Initial plan: June 9th: arrive at FCO Rome at 11am and take train at Termini station to Assisi in early afternoon. Stay for 2 nights and leave on June 11th to take train back to Rome to stay for 2 nights.

After checking scioperi-mit.gov and related reddit posts, I believe the alternative is to take the bus to get us there in late afternoon. The guaranteed trains are either too early (believe we arrive Rome) or too late (get to Assisi at midnight) if I read it correctly.

Revised plan:

June 9th: take Flixbus at FCO (scheduled at 14:50pm) to Foligno, then take a regional train or taxi to Assisi. Looks like Flixbus has no bus scheduled to Assisi that day.

June 11th: take Sugla bus from Assisi (scheduled at 13:45pm) to Rome.

Questions:

  1. Do you think the regional train between Foligno to Assisi will still be running on June 9th? Any idea how much for the taxi from Foligno to Assisi Centro? Anyone tried Blah blah car?

  2. Any other bus companies running between Rome and Assisi? Or to Foligno ?

  3. From your experience, will the traffic be more chaotic as a result of the train strike? That means it may take way longer to get there by bus...

  4. Should we cancel the Assisi trip and just stay two more days in Rome or take a guided day trip from Rome to Assisi? We have never been to Assisi but went to Rome before.

  5. If we stick to the revised plan, should we buy the bus tickets now?

I try not to be panic here (LOL). Any insight or comment would be greatly appreciated!
