Honest G2 + R1 review after ~10 days: great teleprompter idea, but returning mine
What's working:
The teleprompter use case is genuinely good. If you have a presentation and need your notes right in front of your eyes, it does that job well. That's the standout for me.
What's not:
- It needs to go a long way before it feels like a finished product.
- The responsiveness between the R1 and G2 can be better - there's lag, and it takes too much fiddling to get everything working smoothly.
The major issue for me:
The way it shows the text at certain angles. The display ends up showing the exact words of what's on screen, visible from the outside at some angles (photo attached - but it’s more clear the test in person). That kills the whole point of discreet smart glasses for me.
Verdict: I'm returning both the G2 and R1. The concept is right, especially for presentations, but between the display issue and the R1 fiddling, it's not there yet. I'll be watching- if they fix these, I'd reconsider. Too early right now.
