Questions about separating hamsters?

Maybe about two weeks ago I went to get one Syrian hamster with my girlfriend but we ended up getting two after we saw them cuddled up in a corner together sleeping. We had a topless cage set up for them but they got out of it two nights in a row after climbing out on their wheel so we got them the bucastate 3.0 47”. It was definitely an improvement as they have a lot more space to run around but it has come to my attention that having them together may stress them out. I haven’t seen them fight at all but they are still young (2 months) so I don’t want to come home to one dead after a fight. I was hoping the more knowledgeable (and responsible) hamster owners would be able to help me come up with a solution. The only thing I’ve been able to come up with is maybe putting a divider down the middle of the cage but I don’t know if that would be too small for them. I just feel horrible about potentially stressing them out so any advice is appreciated.
