Freelancers: How do you partner with commission-based salespeople?

I'm curious how freelancers find commission-based sales partners.

I'm a developer and recently completed my first client project. One thing I've realized is that I'm much more interested in building products than in sales and client acquisition.

For those who have experience, how do you find someone who's good at lead generation, communication, and closing deals on a commission-only basis? Do you usually work with independent sales reps, agencies, or freelancers? How do you structure the commission and make sure it's beneficial for both sides?

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences, any pitfalls to avoid, or platforms where you've found reliable people to collaborate with.

Searching For a real "Sales God"

I recently completed my first freelance project, and it made me realize that while I enjoy building websites and applications, sales and client acquisition are a completely different skill set.

For freelancers who prefer focusing on development, how do you handle finding and converting clients?

  • Do you partner with commission-based salespeople or business development professionals?
  • If so, how do you find trustworthy people?
  • How do you structure commissions and responsibilities?
  • Do you use contracts, revenue sharing, or referral agreements?

I'd love to hear how others have approached this and what has worked (or not worked) for you.
