is there any real reason to avoid a high yield savings account?

I have a fair bit sitting in a regular savings account right now earning basically nothing like 01 APY. Ive been reading about HYSAs and it honestly seems like a no brainer to move my money over. That said I dont really get what the downsides are supposed to be. It looks like an easy win for letting my money actually grow but im waiting for the catch to show up somewhere. Would love to hear what im missing

Is it actually worth moving money into a high yield savings account right now?

I’ve been keeping most of my savings in my regular bank account for years and the interest is basically nonexistent so lately I’ve been looking more into HYSAs after seeing people talk about getting 4 to 5 percent APY. What I’m trying to figure out is whether it’s really as simple as people make it sound or if there are catches with transfers taxes changing interest rates or random account restrictions. I’m not investing this money or trying to get rich from interest I mainly just want somewhere safe to keep my emergency fund while at least earning something instead of watching inflation eat it alive. Curious what banks people are actually using and whether you’ve had any bad experiences with online savings accounts long term

people who are disciplined with money how do you do it?

I finally managed to save around 3k for the first time in a while and I really don’t want to slowly waste it on random impulse buys again. I get paid every two weeks and somehow little stuff always adds up fast food subscriptions late night online shopping all that. Trying to shift my mindset a bit and stop treating every paycheck like free spending money so I’m curious what habits actually helped you save consistently
