Is the first book still free to read online?

Title. The table of contents is up and there is no mention of the series being stubbed like a royal road publication would. Iirc when I read it the first time the books were already out but the serial was still available for free. What changed? Clicking next chapter into chapter 2 just sends you to the preorder page.

Would fun cards at the end of a review session impact retention of important cards I did earlier?

I have a feeling that this has probably been investigated in the memory literature but Im not sure how to find an answer to this specific question.

I'm starting medical school this year and used Anki a lot during my MCAT prep. I found it was easier to do my reviews if I added some more fun or general use decks. I would review my fun decks as a reward at the end so that, on days I didn't finish my reviews, I wasn't wasting time on the fun cards.

Since my daily reviews will likely go way up in the near future I want to make sure im not shooting myself in the foot by doing 50 trivia cards after 400 medical ones. Will I be overwriting my short-term or long-term memory with comparatively useless cards on a different topic?
