Adjusting Stimulants from Adderall
I recently moved to Dublin from the US where I was diagnosed ADHD and prescribed Adderall (instant and extended).
Upon coming here, I set up an appointment with a GP to continue my prescriptions including other medications like antidepressants. The GP seemed pretty easy, re-prescribing based on my list of medications from US provider. The GP was foreign, so I think there was an unawareness of the restrictions on Adderall. I wasn’t told this until bringing my new prescriptions to the pharmacist.
The pharmacist told me to get re-prescribed the Adderall alternative from my US provider, although I think there is legal limitations on providing care aboard. But I asked anyways to update prescription list online, my US provider has been on leave so waiting to hear back.
In any case, I want to understand my options if my US provider cannot adjust my medication list (I’m not on US insurance anymore). I see there’s MULTIPLE hoops to jump through to get a new prescription for ADHD, and also VERY expensive.
Any recommendations on how to switch my ADHD meds here in Dublin? Should I try to go back to GP and see if she’ll prescribe? I have my diagnosis documented and recommendation for medication.
