Wanting To Work as a Film Historian

Hello, last year I graduated from film school and I am now coming to the realization that I would like to potentially pursue work surrounding film history and archival work. Since graduation, I haven't been able to find much work in the film industry. I live in Los Angeles and all I've been able to do is work in the veterinary industry and do a remote unpaid internship for a first-year film festival.

It's no secret that the film industry is struggling. I only know one person who I've graduated with who has been able to land a consistent job, and no matter how many connections I have, I still can't seem to land anything. I've come to the realization that my main interest in film doesn't lie in production, but rather history and preservation. However, I've only taken two film history classes from my undergrad studies and I don't have a single insight on what the career and field is like. Through my research I've found that the next step is to consider getting my masters in history or library sciences. However, I've also found that people with these degrees tend to regret pursuing this course of education. Additionally, I have my own reservations about putting on more student debt and putting myself through grad school while having to work full-time. Is there any insight that anyone could provide? Such as those who work in the industry, whether grad school is worth it, how I can search for work with no experience, etc.?
