Joplin on Syncthing - do not even try

So basically the Syncthing (Laptop) + Syncthing-Fork (Android) setup DOES work for Obsidian but DOES NOT work for Joplin:

(1) no syncing is done while the Joplin app is not opened on an Android device with the screen on

(2) syncing of 2000 MD notes + 1000 embedded images (500mb in total) took 12+ hours, all this time the screen of the Android should have been kept on. If the app is in the background there is no background syncing.

(3) changing one note on PC takes 30 mins before the change is mirrored on Android

(4) I strongly suspect that the problem is the Joplin android app itself, not Joplin PC/MacOS and definitely not Syncthing (I use it seamlessly for 3+ years)

(5) I am quite sure the same problems with Joplin exist whatever other third-party option for syncing you use, probably besides their cloud

SIBO misdiagnosed for 14 years > it was likely APD instead

My bloating started around 2013; no other symptoms than bloating & excessive odorless gas but the gas was also clearly causing other problems such as hemorrhoids down the pipeline.

I met 4+ different gastro doctors during these years; did three or four glucose/lactulose breath tests, one of them gave the positive SIBO result (hydrogen) and the gastro docs were routinely diagnosing me with SIBO/IBS ever since.

Low-FODMAP and probiotics helped reducing the symptoms down by half or more, Amoxicillin for two weeks was bringing a complete relief so I was still suffering but not questioning much the "SIBO" diagnosis till I got very tired of constant farting and had some time to focus on my own research 😃

And my research was conducted in parallel with my 4th gastro doctor who was doing all the possible tests including the gastroscopy, colonoscopy and two 1-month long diets. The SIBO breath test was negative so the doc just told that I had an "unclear pathological food allergy".

My own research included Excel, AI (Claude, Chatgpt), Garmin watch and Reddit; took more than one year in 2024-2025.

(1) Exported my HRV, stress, sleep etc from Garmin as CSV into Excel

(2) Recorded all my food intakes via an app called mynetdiary; the app is sophisticated but taking the photos of my meals 3 times a day and allowing the app to break it down into nutrients was quite easy; recorded 4 months in such way (350+ meals recorded) alongside with the bloating severeness 1 to 10; then got tired; also exported as CSV into Excel

(3) Put my symptoms and the Excel into the AI (Claude and ChatGPT), they hallucinated and gave the same stuff the docs were saying about the SIBO / carbohydrates intolerance etc

(4) Did not give up, and built the regressions on the 4-month time period in Excel (food diary data); regressed the symptoms' severeness score on Garmin data and food data

(5) Found ZERO statistically significant results to confirm that my bloating is caused by food or stress; basically neither food nor stress was correlated with my symptom score. Told ChatGPT about it and asked it to stop giving me BS.

(6) ChatGPT brought me to https://www.reddit.com/r/SiboSuccessStories/comments/1jgtm9b/another_abdominal_phrenic_dyssynergia_story/ finally. I started doing the exercise from the video https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0016508524002853 (supplementary material section) and bingo the last half a year has been almost symptom-free. I am doing the exercise every time after the meals still. Many thanks to the people in Spain who researched it and those who posted too.

(7) My own hypothesis is that the APD is also related to the overall posture and somehow the exercises from p.6 look similar to the pre-deadlift core & pelvic engagement (eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeEXS3BHOsg )
