I am 3 months into my PCCM fellowship in a clinically busy west coast program. Despite taking care of very critically ill patients, looking at my log — I have only 3 intubations (all due to critical illness). I know it’s early on in fellowship and I have time to get more but I am interested in jobs in the north east and don’t know what the “requirement” for intubations are.

My dream is to live in NYC. I did my residency in a northeast city (not NYC) where I am from, but matched fellowship on the west coast (ended up lower on my ROL).

I am entering my second year of PCCM and am looking for a semi academic job in nyc. What are the odds/best approach?

I matched fellowship on the opposite coast even though I ranked NYC 1-5 :(

What are the odds of getting a semi academic job in nyc without professional connections there?
