Axolotl passing stringy clear jelly globs
Hi guys! This is Tina! My husband and I recently got her a month ago from my husbands cousin! He hatched her from eggs a friend gave him. She’s about a year old but still small roughly 4.5-5inches. His cousin gave us pellets and bloodworms for her and instructions on her feedings. He told us to give her just 1-2 pellets every 3 days and the bloodworms are only as a treat and are fattening and fill her up. Well we stuck to that and she was fine, pooping normally and swimming around. At the end of July my husband and I left on a trip for 5 days. The day we left my husband fed her and gave her 1 pellet and bloodworms thinking that would be enough while we were gone. We came back and noticed these weird clear jelly globs in her tank and thought her water was being weird and grew some weird bacteria. So we changed her water but the globs came back. It wasn’t till a few days later we noticed the clear jelly globs coming out of her cloaca and now it’s been a week and she is still passing these clear stringy jelly like globs and hasn’t had a normal brown poop since we left which was on July 29th! I of course did research and it told me because she didn’t eat enough and was fasting for days, she’s passing intestinal mucus. We started feeding her a few pellets now everyday since we got back a week and a half ago but she’s still hasn’t had a normal brown poop! She’s acting normal, eating fine and moving around. I’ve attached a photo of the jelly globs and of her of course so you can see her size! Any advice is appreciated!! Thank you!
