My $16k, 1 year old roof may be garbage, and I think it’s my fault.

Don’t hold any punches. I need to know if this is my fault.

Raised shingles due to lifted sheathing. Noticed this August 2026.

Roof installed May 2025. Southern Indiana. 1930 house. Roof had never been removed before, 3 layers of asphalt on top of wood shake. I, the homeowner, supplied materials to a local crew who did a great job. 5/8” plywood sheathing. 24” spacing on trusses. No H clips. Nailed into trusses and perlins. Lifted sheathing at joints in 6-10 areas on the 20 square roof.

There is poor ventilation in the attic. Ridge vent installed, but poor intake. Soffit is not ventilated. Regularly gets 120+ in the summer.

Did I mess up by not supplying H clips? Was 5/8” plywood too thick? Should I have had the crew remove the old perlins from the original wood shake roof so the plywood would nail straight into the trusses? Did I wait too long to install proper ventilation?

Is this on the crew at all? Many joints meet in between perlins, so the entire edge of the plywood is suspended, not making contact with the perlin or the trusses. Some of the perlins are raised from the trusses, causing gaps between sheets.

How serious is this? Immediate fix vs could wait a while? Could patch fixes be done or is this a complete tear off? Should I call out my roofer and have him take a look? Call an inspector?

What’s the difference between Gregory Zulu, Baltoro, and Paragon?

Edit: thanks for the advice everyone, I went with the Baltoro. Can’t wait to take it out!

Glass door install tips

Pic 1: the best help around.
Pic 2: general shower layout, this question specifically has to do with the mosaic band on all 3 walls
Pic 3: my sliding glass doors
Pic4: original plan
Pic 5: new plan

So we had originally planned on doing 4 stones tall mosaic band around the shower. However; this put the bar for the shower door mounting in the top stone of the mosaic. This worries me structurally, as well as aesthetically. I think going to a 3-stone tall mosaic, with the bar mounting into the 12x24 porcelain will be an easier install, less chance of problems after install, and look more intentional. I have pretty well made up my mind you go 3-stone high, just wanted to get a second opinion as well as general tips for this type of door install. TIA!

Tile identification

This tile was spotted at Lowe’s in the middle them rearranging their tile section. The employee was not able to locate a box of this tile, or even give us a part number. Can someone help identify this? We are specifically interested in a linear porcelain mosaic, with a typical porcelain non-glossy finish, in a similar color pattern, if someone knows of a close match. Thanks!

Progress Report

Hello friends. Wrapped up my waterproofing last night, starting tile later today. It’s been about 10 years since my last tile job. So far, haven’t really had any issues, but there are a couple things I am unsure about.

Never installed a niche. Installing chevron mosaic in the back wall of niche, but am still unsure about how I will do the shelves in the niche. Torn between using the wall tile vs using something more similar to a stone vanity counter top and having it come out past the wall tile. Any tips?

I have large glass sliding doors the mount with a bar across the top. They are very heavy. Tips?
