I rebuilt my tiny TV link opener - now you can click anywhere on the screen

A little while ago I posted about a small tool I built because I was tired of typing URLs with the TV on-screen keyboard.

I’ve now deployed a second version of justopen.link with a new design, a simpler workflow, and a rebuilt realtime layer.

The idea is still the same:

  1. Open justopen.link in your TV browser.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone.
  3. Paste a link on your phone.
  4. The link appears on the TV - click anywhere on the screen to open it.

The biggest improvement is the TV-side UX.

In the previous version, you had to move the cursor to a specific “Open” button. Now the whole screen is clickable, so there’s no need to carefully navigate the cursor with the remote.

I also replaced Pusher with Cloudflare Durable Objects for the realtime communication between the phone and TV. The goal was to make the connection more reliable and have more control over the persistent realtime session.

No account, no app to install, no login.

I mainly use it for opening streaming services, football matches, movies, and TV series on the TV - basically whenever I already have the link on my phone and don’t want to type the whole thing again with the TV remote.

I also redesigned the interface to make it simpler and easier to use from across the room.

Would appreciate any feedback, especially if you try it on a different webOS model.
