On this day (May 21st 2006) a 25 year old gunman by the name of Anthony Bell opened fire at a church in Louisiana, USA. He would kill 4 of his wife's (Erica Bell) family members and injure another one with a revolver. He would then kidnap his wife, his 3 children, and his baby. Then there was a reported shooting at an apartment complex in Baton Rouge, when police came he found Erica Bell's deceased body in a parked car at the complex. The kidnapped children were found unharmed, and Bell was found holding his baby while crying. He was arrested on the spot and was sentenced to death and is now on death row.

On June 3rd 1983, a 34 year old gunman by the name of Karel Charva opened fire in a classroom in Eppstein-Vockenhausen, Hesse, Germany. Before the shooting he requested an interview by the headmaster and a teacher (Adolf Gelhaar). The gunman was given directions to the teacher he wanted to talk to and made his way to the second floor. He forced his way in to Gelhaar's classroom and opened fire with two revolvers. He would kill 3 students and 1 teacher and injure at least 13 others (Gelhaar was injured also). There were unarmed police officers instructing students to the court yard and Charva would kill one of them (Gisbert Beck). The gunman would then commit suicide with a shot to the head. Charva was in a political asylum 12 years prior. The motive is unknown.

American Mass Murderer Andrew Kehoe (February 1st 1872 - May 18th 1927)

Bath Charter Township, Michigan, USA.

Andrew Kehoe was a loner that typically liked to keep to himself, he was well kempt, and experimented with electricity. He would throw fits of rage when things didn't go his way and was violent.

His father got re-married a third time to Francis Wilder, so Kehoe had a new half sister, but it was obvious to those around that he didn't like her. There was an incident where he killed her pet cat.

On September 17th 1910, Kehoe's new stepmother lit her new gasoline stove on fire to make dinner. It exploded and set her on fire, Kehoe then threw water on her but it was an oil fire so it made it a lot worse. Him and his father then put the fire out and took her to her bed, then Kehoe ran down the street to the only house close by that has a phone. The neighbor said or implied that he was very calm and said that his stepmother got burned, he also asked for a priest. Francis would lose her life a few hours later. People suspect that Andrew had something to do with this incident.

On May 14th 1912, Kehoe married a woman (Ellen Kehoe) and purchased her deceased uncle's available farm property.

A year later Kehoe shot a neighbors dog because he was tired of it's barking. The wife of the neighbor stopped associating with Kehoe after. He also beat one of his horses to death for not meeting expectations.

In 1923, Andrew Kehoe and others were upset about the raise in taxes by the school board in Bath Charter Township. The school board treasurer was up for re-election, Andrew took the opportunity and won the election.

In 1925, Andrew Kehoe was promoted to the temporary town clerk since the clerk at the time passed away. He had to try and run for the position during the next election cycle since it's up to nominees. In 1926 he was not nominated and this caused him to want to seek revenge in the worst way possible.

In 1926, Kehoe's wife started getting very ill up to the point where she was basically bed-written and would have frequent hospital trips.

Kehoe was hired to do electrical work for the Bath Consolidated School, he was trusted so he had access to the whole school.

In Winter 1926-1927, Kehoe was starting to experiment with explosives such as a pyrotol and dynamite and had used them prior in the military.

In Spring 1927, Kehoe was nominated for county justice of the peace but was then defeated by a large scale, this added to his delusion that the Town of Bath was against him and the whole thing added to his rage.

Throughout 1927, he was putting massive amounts of explosives into the ceiling, pipes, and behind the plaster at the school. He wired them together and used 2 hot shot batteries as a power source and used an alarm clock to time the explosions. He put hundreds of pounds of explosives throughout the school.

He put explosives throughout his farm, his wife's sister's house, and the Bath Consolidated School to set off at around the same times.

On May 16th 1927, Kehoe's wife was brought back from the hospital, and it is believed that he killed her on this day or the next day.

On May 18th 1927, he put his wife's body in a wheelbarrow outside and put his horses inside so they couldn't escape during the explosion and fire. He then loaded his truck with a bunch of metal scraps that would be shrapnel when it detonated. At 8:45 am the timebombs at the school exploded along with the farm bombs and his wife's sisters house. The north wing of the school was completely demolished and a bunch of people gathered outside the school to see what happened. While people were checking out the fire at Kehoe's farm, Kehoe shouted to everyone that they should go to the school. At the school he called over Emery Huyck (the person who Kehoe was against during the election) to his truck filled with shrapnel and pulled out a rifle and shot the back of his truck. The truck exploded and killed Kehoe and many others. The perpetrator was dead and the massacre was over. 42 people were killed (mostly children) and 58 others were injured in the event. 2 more children died later from their injuries, which brings the victim death count up to 44. 500 pounds of dynamite was found in the school, that had failed to detonate, had all the bombs went off, the whole school would be demolished, killing most of the people inside.

On this day 8 years ago (May 18th 2018) a 17 year old student (Dimitrios Pagourtzis) opened fire at the Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, USA. He killed 8 students, 2 teachers, and injured 13 others before being injured in a gun fight with police. He had been suffering with hallucinations and delusions, he had believed that the CIA wanted him to train to be an elite killer. He was declared unfit to stand trial and was sent to the North Texas State Hospital. He was declared unfit for trial 5 more times and still remains at the psychiatric hospital.

On October 21st 2002 a student at The Monash University (Huan Yun Xiang) was armed with 6 loaded weapons at the school. He opened fire at an econometrics class with 12 students inside. He would kill 2 students (Xu Hui Wu & Yat Ming Chang) and injure 5 others. During the shooting he screamed "You never understand me". He went to switch his weapon when Lee Gordon-Brown (an injured lecturer) grabbed the gunman's hands as he was reaching into his jacket. Gordon and a student (Alaistair Boast) then tackled the gunman, then a student named Bradley Thompson removed magazines and the guns from his person. At some point Gordon would collapse from his injuries and a lecturer in a nearby room came to help Boast & Thompson restrain the gunman until police came. While in police custody he wrote a note saying "I finally ended WW's life", which was one of the two deceased victims in that tragedy. The gunman held this delusion that Wu was an agent of evil and would try and take him down academically. The defense and prosecution in Xiang's trial agreed that he was suffering from paranoid delusional disorder, and was placed in the Thomas Embling Psychiatric Hospital and may be held there up to 25 years. The Victoria Supreme Court found him not guilty because of his mental illness and impairment. Bravery Awards went to Lee Gordon-Brown, Alastair Boast, Brett Inder, Bradley Thompson, Andrew Swann and Colin Thornby for helping disarm and restrain the gunman and helping injured students and staff.

On this day 46 years ago (May 9th 1980) 5 bank robbers and attackers broke into the Norco Branch of Security Pacific Bank in Norco, California, USA. They would force the tellers at gunpoint to hand them cash and coins from the building. They got 20,000 US dollars and then left the building. They were confronted by police and a shootout occured which killed perpetrator Belisario Delgato and the gunmen killed Officer James Evans. An employee from another bank saw the men breaking in and called the police which is why they were there so quickly. In this shootout the perps would shoot a responding police helicopter which caused it to forcefully land. The other 4 perpetrators left the scene using a stolen vehicle which led into a 25 mile police chase. The perps stopped their vehicle at the Stockton Flat Campground in Lytle Creek and another shootout ensued. More police officers and 3 of the perps were wounded. They then fled into a wooded area. The suspects were at large when approximately 200 police officers spent two days looking for them. They were found in pools of blood and they were begging for help, Manuel Delgado committed suicide before police could apprehend him. In total in both shootouts, 2/5 perpetrators were killed, 8 police officers were wounded, 1 police officer was killed and 3/5 perpetrators were injured. Christopher & Russel Harven and George Smith survived and were all sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

On this day 20 years ago (May 8th 2006) an 18 year old arsonist by the name of Bai Ningyang killed 12 people and injured another 5 at a kindergarten school in Shiguan, Henan, China. He had access to the school grounds through a gate that was illegally operated. The school courtyard was shared with a factory and the gate was usually open. He broke into a class with two bottles of petrol and a knife. He then threatened the class at knife point to the back of the room, locked the door, poured gasoline into the room, and then set the room on fire. He let one of the kids go before the arson because he knew the kids parents. 2 five year old students died on the spot while the other 10 had lost their lives in the hospital. He fled the scene and was found the next day hiding in a cave in the nearby mountains. He was arrested on the spot. He was sentenced to death and then was executed.

On this day 42 years ago Denis Lortie (a member of the Canadian Forces) opened fire at the parliament building in Quebec City, Canada. He used submachine guns and a pistol to kill 3 government employees and injure 13 others. René Jalbert (a Canadian Forces officer at the time) talked with the gunman for hours and managed to convince him to surrender to the authorities. Lortie had paranoid schizophrenia and pleaded guilty to charges of second degree murder (he allegedly came up with the plan during a psychotic episode). In 1995 Lortie was granted day parole and then was granted full parole in July 1996.

On this day 34 years ago (May 7th 1992) 3 perpetrators (Freeman MacNeil, Darren Muise, and Derek Wood) broke into a McDonald's in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada and killed 3 people and injured 1 other in an armed robbery. They used shovels, knives, and a pistol to murder their victims. Since Wood was an employee he knew how to access the safe. They stole approximately 2000 dollars CAD. Arlene MacNeil was shot in the face but survived. 10 days later the boys were finally arrested. MacNeil and Wood were sentenced to life in prison being eligible for parole 25 years later. Muise received the same thing but he was eligible for parole 20 years later. MacNeil and Wood were convicted of 1st degree murder and Muise was convicted of 2nd degree murder. In 2018 Arlene MacNeil passed away from her injuries which brings the victim death count up to 4. In 2012 Muise was granted full parole. Sometime in 2022, Wood's appeal for parole was denied. In December of 2022, MacNeil was granted day parole and then in March 2024 he was granted full parole.

On this day 7 years ago Alec McKinney & Devon Erickson opened fire on students at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Douglas County, Colorado, USA. A student (Kendrick Castillo) tried to subdue Erickson as he was firing, he was very unfortunately killed in the process. Other students succeeded in subduing Erickson (Joshua Jones (injured) & Brendan Bialy). McKinney got out of the classroom after injuring 4 people and tried to commit suicide but the guns safety was on and he didn't figure out how to get the safety off. During the shooting, a private contact security guard opened fire at the police as they were entering the school, mistaking them for the shooters, he missed them and accidentally injured a student. McKinney and Erickson surrendered to police. McKinney was sentenced to life in prison plus 38 years with him being eligible for parole after 40 years. Erickson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 1,282 years. Erickson is being held at Centennial Correctional Facility and McKinney is being held at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility. The guard that injured a student was not charged with a crime.

Almost 101 years ago (May 6th 2025) the first ever school shooting in Poland took place when two eighth grade students (Stanislaw Lawrynowicz & Janusz Obrabalski) attacked students and staff at Joachim Lelewal High School with revolvers and bombs. Lawrynowicz dropped a hand grenade which killed himself and 2 students. Obrabalski committed suicide with a revolver after failing to detonate a grenade. At the end of the attack 2 students and 1 teacher were killed and 9 or 10 people were wounded. One of the shooters failed their exam before the shooting. This incident is the deadliest school shooting in Poland/Lithuania.

On this day 3 years ago (May 3rd 2023) a gunman named Deion Duwane Patterson opened fire at the Northside Hospital Facility in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He killed Amy St. Pierre and injured 4 other women, before being arrested 8 hours later, 13 miles away from the scene of the crime. His trial date is set on June 1st 2026. Motive is unknown.

On this day 3 years ago (May 3rd 2023) 13 year old Kosta Kecmanović shot and killed 9 students, a teacher, and injured 6 other people at the Vladislav Ribnikar Model Elementary School in Belgrade, Serbia. After he ran to the courtyard and called the police and they arrested him. Due to his age he could not be faced with criminal or misdemeanor charges. You have to be 14 or older on the date of the crime. He was placed into a psychiatric hospital in Belgrade and that's where he remains to this day. The motive is not clear.

On January 27th 2002, an unknown robber and gunman barged into AMF Broadway Lanes in Littleton, Colorado just before midnight. The 3 victims were closing down the place for the night when the gunman ordered them at gun point to the backroom. He shot dead all 3 workers, then robbed them, and took money out of the safe, how he got access to safe is still a mystery. He stole approximately 900-1,000 dollars in cash and checks. He then left the area and was seen a victims friend that just arrived, the unknown perpetrator smirked at her and then got into a dark colored pick up truck and drove off and was never seen again. The man was described as a white man, with a medium muscular build, a bald head, was wearing a trench coat, approximately 6 feet tall and around 220 pounds. 24 years later this gunman has never been identified and there is 30,000 dollar reward for information that ends up in an arrest. Randy Brown (a father of a survivor of the Columbine High School Massacre) says that they all knew who it was based on the sketch, but despite all the identifications, no arrests have been made relating to this crime. He says that gunman was a former student at Columbine High School but didn't say who the suspect was. The person Randy was talking about apparently passed away from a drug overdose.
