Should I be concerned?

We recently bought a home in the northern Virginia area. We decided to redo the floors and repaint the walls in a room in the basement. After pulling out the carpet and removing the trim this is what we found. Is it mold and/or water damage? I got the carpet washed about a month ago and they were wet/damp for about 6 days. This area is right under the fireplace and chimney. I have a dehumidifier running constantly down there. I’m hoping to get a mold specialist out to look at it soon before we start laying the LVP down.

I emailed the home inspector we used for advice on how to proceed but figured this is a good place for some advice as well. Thank you in advance!

Is this mold and should we dig deeper?

This past week, we decided to remove the carpet in the home we just bought and replace it with LVP. After removing the carpet and wall trim, this is what we found. I’m concerned that it’s mold and water damage. A month ago I got the carpets cleaned and the carpet was wet/damp for about six days. We have a dehumidifier running in the basement and a fan pointed towards this spot. I already painted the walls and they were clear, but the area under the trim is a little concerning. I just emailed the person that did our home inspection just to get some advice, but figured I could post here too. Do you think it’s mold and should we contact someone further? Should we open up the drywall? Thank you for any advice.

Just to add-we are located in northern VA.
