Newborn bottle teat squirt gun!

Hi all,

I have a 4 week old formula fed baby. When I make up a bottle as per HSE guideline so using the kettle and cooling, using the Nuby rapid cool & hot shot method, using tommee tippee prep machine…even ready to feed that has been reheated in a jug of warm water or using a bottle warmer the extra slow flow or slow flow test squirt formula like a water pistol. I’ve tried lansinoh bottles, MAM bottles and tommee tippee bottles. I’ve tried both HIPP and Kendamil formula. I’ve tried reheating with collar, lid and teat attached and reheating with all removed. I’ve tried squeezing air vent on lansinoh bottles- nothing seems to help!

I’m at my witts end. The only thing i can safely feed my baby is ready to feed room temperature bottles (which thankfully she takes) but they’re costing a fortune

Please, has anyone experienced this or know how I’ll fix it?

Newborn highchair with dog

Hi all

Have a 3 week old baby and would like to get a highchair suitable for a newborn now and obviously good for weaning and feeding down the line. We also have a dog and are mindful that they could barrel into it esp when food is involved.

Long story short, looking at Tripp trapp v Mash high chair. Does anyone have any experience of either of these products from newborn to child with a dog in the house- specifically regards child positioning and sturdiness

Thanks in advance

Formula feeding supports

Hi all,

Have a 2 week old baby, EFF. Phn was concerned about ? Tongue tie. My GP felt wasn’t significant or impacting feeding. Baby is drinking- no clicking or milk spillage but very windy and had blisters on lips. I don’t know if there’s a latch issue

I know there are lactation consultants for breast fed babies..does this or similar exist for formula fed babies?

Rotunda private elective C-section

Hi,

Due to have an elective C-section in the coming weeks as a private patient in the rotunda. I think I will likely be an afternoon slot

I know they try to have you up moving with catheter removed after 6 hours. Did this still happen with a late afternoon section slot?

Are partners allowed to stay beyond 8pm to help if still numb? If not, were the midwife’s helpful in reaching your baby? What about “freshening up”

I’ve read a lot of threads about people only getting private rooms if they’re first on the list. Did anyone with an afternoon slot get a private room straight away ?

If you were in over a weekend, did you own consultant see you or the on call consultant

Sorry for all the questions, I am a little anxious about the whole thing!

Thanks in advance

Bottle & formula choices

Hi,

Expecting my first baby soon and looking into bottles & formula. Haven’t completely decided whether I’ll try BF. Either way, don’t place to exclusively BF.

Currently leaning towards kendamil or Hipp Organic. Like the no palm oil & full fat milk in kendamil but have heard it can upset baby’s tummy’s especially the new formula (?). Hipp organic doesn’t offer those same benefits but do like the pre & pro biotics. Haven’t heard of anyone disliking Hipp

In relation to bottles, I like a glass bottle (although no absolutely necessary!). Looking at nuk perfect match or the avent natural response but am wondering do I need to change teeth to lansinoh or teeth that passes triangle test

As you can probably tell, all v new to me and lots of options. Would experience anyone’s advise or experiences. Thanks in advance

Tripp trap/ alternative high chair with dog

Hi all,

Due my first baby soon and rather than a rocker or swing I’m thinking about getting I a high chair with newborn insert. We have a dog and would rather baby be up off the floor. Basically looking for recommendations. I like the Tripp trap but it is expensive. Dog is liable to try jump too, esp when we get to weaning stage so something v sturdy?

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,

I’m 27 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I am attending the rotunda private. They have supplied the glucometer and given me a website to order the lancets & test strips- €80/ month cost.

Basically my query is, is there a more efficient way of getting the necessary equipment? I have a drug payment scheme card (our household don’t actually have any regular medication though- thankfully!). Have private health insurance also.

Is there any way to reduce the cost or claim some of the expenses?

Thanks in advance
