Could anyone explain to me the GOTCHA in Ashes to Ashes.
What did Mr Prince do and why did he do it - with the ashes?
I don't understand.

Is this one of those cases where this stupid mistake if not committed could have lead to the murderer getting away with it?
My vote goes to Mrs Peck in Double Shock. "Bum! You're a BUM!"
Their interactions, for me, are the best thing about the episode!
Cassidy's character gives Columbo all his (and his late partner's) Melville novels, there's at least a dozen of them, and Columbo returns them to Cassidy at about the halfway point of the episode.
Where would Columbo find the time to read all of them? Is he a speed-reader? Is he lying when he claims to have read them? How much time actually passes in the episode? I didn't think Cassidy gave them to Columbo expecting them to be returned, either. He described them as a "gift".
This is like the third time I've seen this episode and this has always had me curious.
