An unknown person tried to get the couples wedding photos sent to a different email
I'd just wrapped a wedding gallery and a couple days before I was set to deliver it, I got a message that appeared to be from the bride. She said she could no longer get into her usual email and asked me to send the gallery to a different address instead
At first glance nothing set off alarm bells. Whoever it was knew the wedding date, the venue, my name, and even brought up a couple of specific shots from the day. It read like it came from someone who was actually there
The only reason I paused was a personal rule any change to delivery info gets confirmed through a separate channel before I act on it. The couple and I confirmed with kibu and turns out she never sent that message at all
I still don't know how this person got so many accurate details about the wedding or what they were ultimately after. But if I'd just gone with it, a stranger would've ended up with hundreds of private photos of someone else's wedding day.
So fellow photographers do you have a verification step before changing where a gallery or files get sent?
