Is a mic in a work truck normal?

So I just started a new job for this stucco place and I got a work truck the first couple days I was driving it there was no mic in here but now there is. I’m not sure if it for my protection(I’m a woman) or for the workers protection( if I’m a crazy bitch). Just want to make sure I’m not being paranoid

So I’ve been looking for a framing/general construction job in my area and have been applying to places on Indeed with no results. Would it be a bad idea to just start calling up companies in my area to see if they’re hiring? (Also for the bit would it help to mention I’m a woman to get those diversity hire points lol)
