Venofer Infusions & Pregnancy

Hey there! I literally creep on Reddit a lot but just decided to make a profile specifically for anemia

I’m 34, I’m pregnant (2nd baby). I’ve had a ferritin of 4 for the last 3 years, my hemoglobin was last at an 8. This is due to severe endometriosis and PCOS. I’m assuming donating plasma did not help, although I only did it a few times in life.

Has anyone else gotten venofer infusions while pregnant? We’ve waited til the 4th month & well out of the 1st trimester. I was so excited for the 1st out of 6.

Last Tuesday, I had started! I felt AMAZING for 2 hours, and then immediately after had the worst sinus pain and slept. For 2 days. The 3rd day I was so tired I didn’t get out of bed. Thankful I currently do not have to work, and have extra eyes and hands in our home to keep my 6 year old occupied because you guys, I was like dead.

Being pregnant kindof changes what I can do as far as Benadryl or most pain relievers go. I did take 2 tylenol a couple times and it was barely touching the sinus cavity.

What is up with that, I get iron in my system and it went directly to my sinuses lmao. Does anyone have any helpful insight or have been in this predicament?

My GP did drop the ball on some of the blood testing that my Hematologist asked for- like phosphorus. So I’m assuming I’m gonna go in there chugging a cola with Tylenol in hand for this next one on Tuesday. Unless I call up my OBGYN and like, beg for something stronger? I don’t know what to do.

(Our plan is once a week, I do not know the mg I can only assume it’s 200 after reading so many other stories. MyChart just says venofer)

Long time lurker, first time poster

I have been creeping on this and one other r/ the last 3 months of my pregnancy. So okay fine I have to make a profile and post. Here’s my long awaited spiral lol:

Effexor and klonopin.

Without the doses I’m currently on here at 16 weeks pregnant, I revisit/relive the worst time and thing and moment I’ve ever witnessed a year and a half ago this week. All doctors: GP, Psychs, CBT, OBGYN, Onc, and MFM are like “It’s important you’re healthy and happy too.”

I go through things where I’m like okay- trusting the doctors because every ultrasound and test and appointment has been PERFECT. But also um hello no, what, I went cold turkey off my meds for my oldest- and I can’t now because this big bad traumatic thing happened. And then I read some convos on here about being like, interrogated if your baby has withdrawals- when I’ve been told this entire time it’s no big deal if the baby has to spend 24-48 hours in the NICU. WAT. I also don’t want my baby’s first moments in life suffering because I can’t handle something?

Guys, help.

I do meet with my psychiatrists this week, I am going to attempt again to see what I can do as far as lowering from the 75mg and the 3mg per day. Even if we have to chip at it slowly.

Also, I’ve typed this out 63735 different times and really, I‘m having a hard time accepting that what happened is effecting me forever. Which is literally what PTSD and depression is. I don’t want to trigger any momma’s so I’m not adding my story onto here because it’s …bad. And involves my oldest child’s dad being now in a cemetery.
