The evidence actually lies within the achievements of back for seconds, specifically the eating milestones. The namings of these achievements go from “peckish“ to “hungry” then “starving“ and then “ravenous“ and on to “could eat a horse” while having the icons show the grey goo eating progressively larger amounts of food in the respective order (with the exception of “could eat a horse” wich just shows the grey goo about to eat a horse as a nod to the idiom) and you might think that this contradicts my overall point, but the last achievement in back for seconds for eating a certain amount of objects after “could eat a horse” is titled “stuffed”, with the icon of that achievement showing the grey goo NOT eating, looking to have just engorged itself on massive amounts of food and looking perfectly happy and satisfied with its meal. Considering how the word “stuffed” in a term of hunger means completely full and unable to eat more (wich I do assume you know) the meaning created by this achievement directly contradicts the other eating milestone achievements and implies that there is in fact a limit to the grey goo’s seemingly insatiable appetite. I’ve seen how we named the characters in tasty blue with smiles and goldy respectively, but I have never seen any headcannoned names for the characters in tasty planet forever, so I am curious about your ideas for them, me personally, I like to call the grey goo Gregory, for example.

The thing about the grey goo’s voicelines that occur during gameplay is that they are structured human speech, wich to me, heavily implies that the grey goo does in fact understand human speech, and we do see the old scientist vocally talking about the grey goo and how it is meant to be a bathroom cleaner while holding the grey goo, and while the grey goo was at a microscopic size, fast forwarding to tasty planet forever, the basking shark was clearly able to understand what the presumable CEO did through the CEO’s speech while it was the size of what is roughly a grain of rice, considering how even under the scenario where we defy logic to shrink ourselves down into the size of a grain of rice while keeping our eardrums and intelligence intact, our eardrums would receive the sound of the speech of a normal human as completely incomprehensible noise, that likely implies that in the tasty planet multiverse, beings of any size can receive noise in any form under the logic introduced by the basking shark, meaning the grey goo likely understood what the old scientist was saying too. This actually does imply that the grey goo actively refused its original purpose, and considering its childlike personality (see this theory of mine if you haven’t already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in ), it likely wouldn’t have enjoyed the mundane responsibility of cleaning bathrooms, meaning it actively chose to eat everything in its path not really out of resentment, but rather for the sake of the joy of growth, consumption, and a freedom from responsibility, wich is also a major implication that it does in fact have free will Of its own.

The power hats are clearly not just some hats, these things actively scale up proportionally to the character that is wearing it, and the characters don’t seem to attempt to eat the hat they are wearing despite the fact that the hats are clearly objects separate from them As if they want to wear it. The thing is is that the non character exclusive hats don’t give the same stat boost that character exclusive hats do, and this is applied in a very nonsensical way, the grey goo’s propeller hat grants it higher stats than the non character exclusive horned helm, for example. The other thing is, is that the character exclusive hats seem to emulate their respective characters in some way, like how the propeller hat represents the grey goo’s childlike personality (see this theory of mine for more info https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in/ ) or how the cheese hat emulates the African rat’s food loving personality (see this one also If you haven’t already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1w8us02/what_could_the_general_personality_of_the_african ) . Considering this, I think these stat boosts are the results of empathetic resonance, (a fiction trope In wich a character resonates with an item in some way causing them to power up), considering how the characters seem to want to wear it because they don’t eat it, how it scales up proportional to the characters’ size, and the fact that practically nothing in tasty planet makes sense, the characters seem to resonate with their respective exclusive hats causing their power to spike as a result of their fueled sense of identity.

First things first, you might be thinking that the African rat seems to be Driven by a desire to get rid of poachers in Africa, but the african rat never really seems to care about the poachers, and just seems to pay attention to eating in its comic panel. It also seems to act in a way that contradicts the whole “saving the savanna“concept, there is absolutely no way to beat the final level of its levels without eating several animals such as elephants or zebras, if the African rat really cared about the animals and resented the poachers for them hunting down the animals the African rat would not have done this, and while the App Store or steam flavor text says “save the savanna as a heroic rat”, these descriptions seem to be worded in ways that do not align with the other characters, either by underestimating what we see them do in gameplay, completely misunderstanding their motives, or making Claims of an action that contradicts said characters motive. “Consume the Caribbean as an angry octopus” claims the carribean octopus consumed the Caribbean, but an action like this contradicts its whole motive, it got angry that humans were polluting the ocean it loves, it wants to save the ocean, not eat it. “Devour the city as a big eyed bee” severely underestimates what happens in the final level of the big city bee, it devours earth itself, not just a singular city. “Reclaim the Pacific Ocean as a basking shark” doesn’t seem to have any correlation as to why the basking shark decided to grow, it specifically wanted revenge against humanity for killing off its entire species. “Eradicate invasive species as an experimental dingo”, we literally see the dingo actively kill humans by eating them, and considering how the dingo is man made, it should not be able to consider humans as invasive species, it also devours things that are not animals, like tanks, buildings,etc, so the dingo is clearly not just motivated to eradicate invasive species, and is more on the side of rebelling against its creators so that it can have the pleasure of growth and consumption. “Stop the humans as a peckish penguin“ literally misinterprets the penguins motive, it does not seem to operate on hunger, but rather a sense of duty and a desire to save the planet. Finally, “Munch on mars as a ball of grey goo” again, underestimates what happens in the final level, it doesn’t just eat mars, it eats the universe itself. Considering all these logical contradictions, I think the African rat couldn’t care less about killing the poachers, and really just wants to eat. I know this isn’t really relevant to what the title above says, but I wanted to call these logical flaws out before my overall statement as the consensus that the african rat eats because it wants to get rid of the poachers seems rather common in this community, and I do not want to be criticized with the evidence that the community uses as evidence for this consensus if I already have other evidence to defend my claims in that scenario, I hope you understand. Now, for my overall View on the african rat‘s personality, I personally view it as with childlike personality similar to the grey goo (see this theory of mine for more info if you haven’t already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in/ ), It already has that similar passion for growth and consumption to the grey goo, and it also has the same, whimsical and expressive voicelines of the grey goo, but at a higher pitch, and the final piece of evidence I have in support of this theory is the fact that the African rat has a wedge of cheese as its cosmetic item, and considering how the character exclusive hats seem to emulate their respective characters in some way, and the fact that rats in cartoons love cheese, I honestly think the African rat has a childlike and food loving personality similar to the grey goo.

You might think that it was because it was too small, but the first comic panel of the game actively places the old scientist and the Time Machine side by side, and we can clearly see that the Time Machine is bigger and taller than the old scientist, and though the young scientist is slightly taller than the old scientist, the Time Machine is still probably considerably larger than him, so the grey goo did have the opportunity to eat them before the time machine, wether or not if the grey goo knew what the Time Machine would do to it, but it did not, so what could have been the reason? Well, we know for a fact that the grey goo was freed from the cup because the young scientist showed it pity and if we would consider its childlike and expressive personality (see this other theory of mine for more info if you have not already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in ) it seems to be capable of developing affection. It probably viewed the young scientist as someone who actually cares for it, and likely spared the young scientist out of gratitude. As for the older scientist, I don’t think it spared him because it LIKED him, but because of how the young scientist views the old scientist, but considering the affection the grey goo had for the young scientist, and how the young scientist seems to view the old scientist with a positive attitude, the goo likely did not eat the old scientist because it did not want to hurt the young scientist’s feelings, as eating the old scientist would likely deeply traumatize him. As to why the grey goo ate them in the distant future, we know for a fact that the old and young scientists were actively working together to destroy the grey goo, considering that a hostile encounter with the young scientist literally betrays the affection it once had for the young scientist, seeing the young scientist work with the older scientist to attack it likely deeply hurt the grey goo’s feelings, and as a result, it had no reason to hold back its love for food to protect them, and the rest is history.

Characters that have no origins of being scientifically Engineered or mutated in anyway, (like the African rat or Caribbean octopus) were initially normal animals until they received a Cosmic blessing from the grey goo that allowed them to attain their ability and intelligence (see this theory I have made for more info if you have not already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vy0iv4/how_powerful_could_lore_accurate_universe_sized/ ), I had initially thought that they were cosmic anomalies, but a comment on the theory above made by u/Hephaestus16 made up a statement that they are in fact blessed by the grey goo, and when I thought about it, it made more sense, entities made of cosmic energy that defy logic only seem to appear at cosmic scales, so it should not be possible for a being that is only say, a few centimeters have that same cosmic defiance in it, unless it was done by some external force, and there is a pattern in how they all the characters, REGARDLESS of their origin, seem to behave during gameplay, they always seem to express joy in some way through their voicelines, specifically when reaching the target size or eating, and this seems To imply a passion for growth and consumption, something that the grey goo also has, this seems to imply an inherent behavior in all of the characters, (from this point on, I do also recommend reading this specific theory of mine as well if you have not already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in ) if we were to consider the grey goo’s sheer power and childlike personality, it may have used that blessing ability if it wanted a friend, a genuine friend, considering how characters Like the basking shark or the octopus seem to be motivated by revenge against humanity, the grey goo seems to have given the characters it had blessed freedom and control over their blessing, since it wants a genuine friend who actually shares its passion of consumption and growth, it would know that forcing that behavior would defeat the entire purpose of the grey goo’s goal of making a friend, and there does not seem to be an illusion of choice on the blessed characters either, as characters like cyberpunk penguin and Caribbean octopus probably rejected the idea of eating the universe (see this other theory of mine for more info if you have not already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vlo40q/what_characters_in_all_6_games_do_you_think_are/ ) meaning they have full control over how they can use their powers, and there also seems to be differences in the motives and when they had started growing as well, basking shark got angry due to its species being destroyed because of corporate greed, while African rat seems to have an insatiable appetite, probably because it “embraced“ the grey goo’s blessing out of a desire for pleasure rather than something like revenge. Or the house hippo, the App Store description claims that the eating maple syrup made the house hippo undergo a “runaway metabolic response“, and we seem to see it defy its traditional dietary constraints, the description seems to frame the maple syrup house hippo ate as a catalyst, but we know for a fact that multiple house hippos exist, as the old man in its comic panels does mention the existence of house hippos, implying that the house hippo we play as is special in some way, so I think that the “runaway metabolic response“ was actually the house hippo coming to “embrace“ the grey goo’s blessing. My final piece of evidence for this theory is that tasty planet back for seconds was the first game where the grey goo success eats the universe and survives, wich came before tasty blue, wich was the first tasty planet game with characters other than the grey goo. Overall, the characters other than the grey goo and are not mutated, domesticated, genetically modified, or scientifically engineered in any way, were once normal creatures until the grey goo, who wanted a friend of its own, had granted them a cosmic bLessing that was a direct replica of its primary power of consumption and growth, I would also like to mention and thank u/Hephaestus16 for the overall idea of this theory.

In the first tasty planet game (it is important to note that I consider all the grey goos of the tasty planet franchise to be fundamentally the same being), the grey goo literally recreates the big bang it its implosion, it leaves behind superclusters, stars,etc, instead of just exploding into millions of pieces, this does seem to imply that the grey goo absorbs the cosmic energy of every celestial body within itself not as mass, but energy, and cosmic energy does seem to have some key components in the franchise, one being the fact that a living entity that also seems to be capable of defying the laws of logic can be made PURELY from it, as seen with the energy entity. Considering how the grey goo has full mastery over its body and its curious personality (see my Post in this link for more info if you haven’t already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vx4mrr/what_could_the_grey_goos_general_personality_in/ ) the grey goo could literally be able to fully master the ability to literally use this energy to its advantage, maybe to “bless” some creature with a direct replica of the goo’s primary power because it wants a friend (considering how cosmic energy seems to work in this game, I think that cosmic energy can literally do things that can in fact defy logic), create loyal energy entities (think Of them like the energy entity in the first game but they act as minions or “food servers” to the grey goo) to feed itself even more, and even split up its own blobby body while preserving its key facial features to and fuse it back into a singular body at will to further elevate its dining experience if it wanted to, and probably even more other abilities that I just can’t think about, I think it would start to obtain these abilities when it is like the size of galaxies and beyond. When the grey goo eats its own universe and ascends to the multiverse, from this point on to me, it becomes a literal god over reality and time (see this other post I made in this link for more info regarding this if you haven’t already https://www.reddit.com/r/TastyPlanetGamers/comments/1vo561u/how_intelligent_could_the_grey_goo_actually_be ) considering how the grey goo was able to eat the literal fabric of reality, it means it dominates it as a whole, considering how it is the literal fabric and therefore laws of reality, and again, the curious personality of the grey goo, the grey goo could literally modify the laws of a certain universe if it wanted to, the grey goo has also eaten time itself as a literal object, so it also has authority over the laws of time of the other universes, it could literally break that universe’s concept Of time, create time paradoxes, rewind the timeline of that universe, fast forward the timeline of that universe, etc etc. (I am assuming you have read the posts mentioned earlier from this point) and the most interesting part about this theory of mine is that even after obtaining unfathomable cosmic power and knowledge in eating the universe, the goo still maintains its childlike,innocent, curious and food loving nature it had from its very creation.

I personally view the grey goo as a being with a very innocent, childlike personality. Sure, it causes a heck ton of destruction,but it does not seem to be express sadistic pleasure in any way,it just seems to really, REALLY, enjoy growing and eating And seems to be pretty expressive when it comes to that judging by its voicelines in gameplay, it also seems to experience quick mood swings depending on certain sequences of events ( it is important to clarify that I consider all the goo’s in the tasty planet franchise to be fundamentally the same being), like when it was trapped under the beaker in the first comic panel of Back for seconds, when we get a close up look at the goo while it is still trapped, its face seems to droop in a way that makes it look like it is sad, but it seems to have brightened up quickly when the young scientist (or grad student however you want to call him) freed it and fed it candy. The grey goo also seems to be unusually familiar with its body for a newly created being, as in the menu screen of the first tasty planet game, we do see the grey goo actively take advantage of its amorphous body to form things like tentacles to catch even more food that would otherwise be out of reach, something like that would require a very big dedication to self exploration and awareness, and by that logic, the grey goo does seem to possess a very curious nature, similarly to the curiosity a child has in the world around them. The last piece of evidence I have regarding this theory is the fact that the grey goo has a propeller hat as its cosmetic item, and these are pretty commonly worn by children in things like cartoons, and the cosmetic items the other characters can get do seem to emulate that characters in some way, like how the big city bee has the queen bee hat. Overall I genuinely view the grey goo as with a very Curious, innocent, and childlike nature With this evidence.

This might sound like a weird question but hear me out: the grey goo seems to be very good at multitasking, it is canonically self replicating nanotechnology, meaning it is not one single body as one single entity, it is thousands or millions (depending on its size) of small things controlled by a single conscience in a hyper coordinated manner, this is also further reinforced by the fact that in the menu screen of the original game, the grey goo seems to take advantage of its amorphous body to catch more objects to absorb, extending certain parts of itself in a way that was clearly intentionally done by the goo, it also seems to do this several times at the same time in that screen, meaning that every bit of the grey goo is effectively a hand that it can use, implying that it is very good at paying attention and being coordinated. Another thing is that it has been able to eat time, not a cosmic manifestation of it, just straight up time, as a concept, I believe that once the grey goo eats its universe, and therefore time itself, it effectively ascends into a state of existence where it can view the past, present and future simultaneously, whenever it wants, so it can look inside the history of a certain universe and be able to experience its entire history or future in a few seconds. The other feasters wich to me are implied to have kept growing and consumed their universe (see my previous post in my account for more info) would have probably not been able to use this, as that would give so much raw information it would shatter their mind, However, other characters using its self replicating nanotechnology would probably be able to use it as well, considering that again, it is nanotechnology, it implies that characters like Mippy, Nano shark, and the Parisian cat, would also have that same hyper coordination the grey goo uses, meaning they can also take in cosmic amounts of raw info and be able to use their abilities to view the past, present and future once ascending their universe.

For the original grey goo, it is clearly shown to die after eating the universe

the One in back for seconds definitely did as it ends in the infinite stack of turtles of time, wich the goo clearly started to eat.

goldy and smiles were killed by nanoshark

nanoshark probably did keep growing to the point it fully destroyed the universe and probably went on to consume other universes, as we see that the Kill switch failed and that the nanoshark seems to take pride in its newfound size, judging by the smile it makes at its final comic panel, and is also seen eating the other planets, so overal, I’d say it willingly kept on growing.

The Parisian cat was told to eat everything and it clearly took that literally, so it will definitely destroy its universe and other Universes

the octopus definitely kept growing, but probably wouldn’t try to eat the cosmos and the earth, as that would contradict its whole motivation of ridding earth off its polution, it wants to save it, not eat it, and this seems the same for the penguin.

the rat does not seem to have any motivation for its consumption other than what appears to be an insatiable appetite, judging by this, it probably ate its own universe and would be willing to eat other universes in the process, its lines are that of the grey goo but sped up and at a higher pitch, meaning that they are technically their own voicelines and by that logic, they are clear expressions of joy through eating and growing.

the dingo also seems to enjoy the act of eating and growing, as it makes playful barking sounds whenever the player eats or reaches the target size, it also demonstrates defiance against its creators, implying it possesses free will, and judging by the shared universe rule that seems to be in play for all the characters, it does not need to breathe, meaning it can survive the vacuum of space, by that logic, it would definitely keep growing to the point of consuming its own universe, and would start eating the multiverse as well (might as well add that this is only assuming the multiverse does in fact exist in the tasty planet universe)

the basking sharks whole motivation involves revenge against humanity, and the outcome of the final level does not seem to satisfy that goal, it would probably consume the earth to achieve its goal of eradicating humanity, and the thing is, you might think it would stop there, but then it would be Forced to bear the extreme loneliness that would come with it being the last of its kind, it also seems to actively enjoy eating and growing, signified by joyful “gurgling”(this was the best description I could think of) sounds implies that it does derive joy from these acts, meaning that it could have used that joy as a coping mechanism, wich would snowball to it also consuming its universe, and other universes as well.

the bee probably consumed its universe and also would have come to feast on the multiverse, we literally witness it surviving the vacuum of space, and it yet again seems to derive joy from eating and growing, signified by its buzzing voicelines.

martian goo definitely kept growing as it is implied that its final level is an endless loop.

You might think that mippy’s feat of converting everything into paperclips as something that disproves the existence of a tasty planet multiverse where the characters are all contained, however, its final comic panel never says everything was made into paperclips, it says everything in its UNIVERSE was made to paperclips, implying that it might‘ve converted other universes into paperclips as well, this is reinforced by the fact that the command was to MAXIMIZE paperclips, meaning that there is no true limit as to how much it can convert.

When it comes to Cetus, you might think that he would have been stopped by the gods, but looking at how the gods seem to have responded to Atlantis’ transformation from fair and kind to prideful and greedy, I think they have less agency over the world than it seems, we see the older god request the younger god to teach the Atlanteans a lesson in humility, when the older god, wich is a literal god, could probably have done it just fine as well, another thing is how we see the younger god respond to Cetus consuming Atlantis, instead of directly intervening, he seems to scold Cetus from the clouds above, and at its first comic panel, we see the younger god direct A lightning bolt over cetus, as if blessing him with its power of growth and consumption, if the younger god is capable of doing this, then he should be able to intervene in Cetus’ consumption rather than scold him at the clouds and hope it works, this implies that the Gods of this universe exist as passive conductors rather than active leaders, this could also be a moral constraint they have placed on themselves, as we do also see the older god asking if he lectured the atlanteans, implying the older god wanted peaceful teaching rather than orchestrating disorder as a means of teaching a lesson in humility. This lack of agency paired with the joyful “groaning“(I could not find a better description for this) that happens when you complete a level or eat something would imply that it probably grew to consume its universe and moved on to the multiverse.

You might think the house hippo stopped growing after the world ran out of maple syrup, but I think It was able to consume its own universe and went out into the multiverse, the first reason is because of the fact that we see it consume things other than maple syrup, And the App Store description of it says that it consuming maple syrup triggered a “runaway metabolic response“ implying that the maple syrup was an ultimate catalyst Rather than something the house hippo’s diet is strictly restricted to, this evidence along with the fact that it seems to enjoy eating and growing, signified by the joyful snorting sounds it makes when it eats or reaches the target size is evidence that it had indeed been able to consume its universe.

The UFO definitely kept growing, we see that the aliens responded to its uncontrollable growth with laser defenses, if they had something like a kill switch for it, they would have used it as the first response against it.

the baby dragon also definitely kept growing, it seems to Derive joy from eating and growing, signified by the sounds it makes when it eats, and also demonstrating a tone separate to the tone when it eats when it takes damage, and we see it looking for more food in its final comic panel, it seems to be driven by an insatiable appetite similar to the rat and as a result, it likely got to consume its universe and would continue in eating the multiverse.

Clay goo definitely did not keep growing as it got killed by James Sayer.
