This is an observation just to provide onfo. I'm in a medical trade that watches sleeping patients using infrared cameras. All is recorded because it's a medical record.

We see how cell phones flash IR in the users face repeatedly to see if they're near then identify the user. Then we started seeing phone grids of hundreds of IR dots mapping the room.

The point I wanted to make; we recently started catching laptops and tablets doing IR facials and grid patterns. Despite my theories of 'why', the IR flashing and tracking is recorded and witnessed by other employees.
