I'm a mid 20s male in the midwest US, and the idea of an allotment is completely foreign to me. I watched "shed of the dead" a few days ago (a very mediocre zombie film but that's not what we're discussing) and I'm pretty sure I understand the premise, but not the application. You rent plots of land to garden? The movie (the entirety of my knowledge on the subject) didn't seem like it took place in the city, so is this a thing that happens everywhere? Rural areas excluded obviously. Thanks in advance for any I learn from from anyone
