Is it normal to have very little training sessions in actual target HM/FM race pace?
I've been running for about 1.5 years and for about a year with Runna. I feel like most session are either "Easy run" or Tempo/Interval runs which either are much slower or much faster than my targeted race pace. Some long runs have race pace involved in them but I rarely get those sessions. Maybe this is normal but I feel like it's hard to predict how my race is going to turn out and it feels a bit odd that I am going to try find a steady pace in a pace range for which I rarely run in. Shouldn't there be more practice to "learn" how to find a good rythm and technique for the given pace I am training to run in?
Example for my current training program, I aim to run a HM in something like 4:35 min per km pace (1:35 - 1:40). These are my paces
Easy runs / Long runs: 5:30 - 6:10 min per km
Shorter intervals: 3:35 - 3:55
Tempo/ longer intervals: 4:00 - 4:35
So there is a very small volume with "race pace". Is this normal for training programs?
