Internal Sliding

Got my preferred branch through internal sliding, but now I can't log in to the counseling portal.

Tried tried to do everything. I cleared cache, tried different browsers/devices, checked passwords and other input details but to no avail.
The same credentials worked fine for the last 3 rounds, but now I get the "Login failed" error.

I'm a JNTUH student, already attended a week in another branch before this allotment.

Is this a general glitch or an isolated event?
Mailed help desk already, but a bit worried since this is the final round. Anyone else facing this?

General Student Bus pass

I just joined the university and have been traversing to the college using the bus which costs me 100 rupees in a day. That kind of expenditure is quite unneeded and can be avoided with a simple student general bus pass.
The caveat I come across is that I don't have my JNTUH identification card yet, idk when will they give it to us. Can I get the pass using my allotment order and joining report?
The application form needs us to provide a admission number, which I have. But I have a feeling like they might ask me for my ID if I go to JBS or any RTC office to collect my pass.
Any and every insight would be great.
I plan on getting my pass before Tuesday.

Subreddit is a good idea

This subreddit could actually help us get through year 1, especially when we don’t fully understand something or just don’t have the balls to ask seniors directly.
We can spam our queries here without clogging the main subreddit, so overall a W.

Not too keen on sharing who I am or which branch with more people, kinda loses the point of anonymity on reddit.
But I’m looking forward to orientation, which I assume is tomorrow. Time to see what this place is really like.

I do want to study a decent bit and pick up skills that matter, but at the same time, I am really hoping to touch some grass and play some good football.

The academic calendar doesn’t look too bad, but it’s kinda hectic, ngl.
I don't think three exams in a sem is the norm, but I do want to be at the top of the class.
One should be ambitious and aim high.

The only question I really have is about confirming the orientation date.
But I am going to take a chance on that, for I don't see any other way through it.
So if you all have a question, just post it man.

Big W to the guy who made the subreddit.

btw I talk like this, I didn't use AI to write this.

The junior you are stuck with.

I had my physical reporting for Btech at JNTUH.
happy but I am clueless about a lot of things
would be thankful if you all can help me out.

Main things I need to know:

  1. Have fresher orientation dates been announced yet? If yes, when and where?
  2. When do regular classes actually start?
  3. Where do I check for these kind of updates mainly for year 1 students?

Thanks

ISI BSDS: Campus Placements and another Query.

This is for the ISI BSDS students.
Not aspirants.

I have a query about campus placements. I am aware that the first batch hasn't yet graduated. But what I want to know is if you are promised campus placements, anywhere officially.
The prospectus fails to definitively state the said for BSDS. But, if I am not wrong, it is available for the other courses (BMath, BStat, et cetera). (I might be wrong tho) ( but that's what I recall.)

Now, there are three definite exit points where I'll be awarded a degree of some value. Let me list them clearly:

a) after the 3rd year : Bachelor's degree in Statistical Data Science

b) after the 4th year : Bachelor's degree in Statistical Data Science (Honours)

c) after the 5th year : Integrated Master's degree in Statistical Data Science

Question:
If I choose to leave after the 3rd year with the regular Bachelor's degree,
or after the 4th year with the Honours degree,
or after the 5th year with the Integrated Master's degree,
will I be allowed to sit for campus placements or receive placement assistance from ISI at each of these exit points? Or is it only available at some of them, and if so, which ones?

And one more thing – not exactly relevant to the matter, but while I am asking:
After I finish the 5th year and get my Integrated Master's degree, will I be allowed to stay on at ISI to do my PhD, if I so choose? Only if I am good enough, obviously.

Admission Doubt

Sorry for the long post. But please help me out. (Main branch)

I gave TG EAPCET this year and got a rank of 9k. Not the best but not the worst either.
I prefer JNTUH over OU. Nothing specific, I just like it a tad bit more. I also grew up in Hyderabad, so I'm somewhat a local.

According to last year cutoffs, I am surely getting a few branches in the main campus thankfully, but I prefer sticking with mechanical branches because I like it more. I am aware that there I could apply for three mechanical branches: Btech 4 year Mech, and then the B+M tech 5 year Mech in Thermal or Manufacturing.

I don't hate the idea of a five year course, but I do wonder what is really different about it from the four year course, apart from the added masters. Like, separate classes? Quality of peers? Courseware? I know that the Btech is done in the first 3 to 4 years and then the Mtech, so I am not asking about timeline, more about what I'll actually learn. If you could point me to a syllabus page with detailed distribution of points across courses, that would help – I have tried looking but no luck.

Coming to placements. I don't just want to compare it to OU Mech placements, but overall. Not just internally between the 4 year and 5 year at JNTUH, but JNTUH as a whole versus OU as a whole. Placements, peer quality, everything. How do they compare?
Because I am sure I can get the 4 year Mech at OU, while at JNTUH the 4 year Mech is borderline for me.

I have a few more non-academic doubts, but I'll keep them for after I get Mech at JNTUH.
