Oem #5 rings

I have tech sights on my mini 14 585 series.

What LVPO scope should I get where I can keep my tech sights? I know tech sights are higher but I know there is an option 20mm lens?

I spent enough, I want something reliable with breaking the bank.

I can worry about cowitness later.

Bad jam up OEM rail and bolt and spent casing.

So I took my mini 14 out last week and successfully cycled 119 out of 120. The only malfunction was on a 10 round magazine failure to eject. I have never had a failure with a five round magazine.

The gun is spot on accurate. Today this happened twice. The first time it happened the bolt was jammed stuck and the casing would not move. I had to take off my QD mount optic and luckily, I had the correct Allen wrench to loosen the rail up to let the round drop out. The spent casing was stuck between the OEM rail and the charge handle in that little area.

I have come to the conclusion that the OEM rail sucks.

I have moved the optic around to different spots and it is a small optic reflex site to try to clear the action.

So my option now is to use the factory rings (take of tech sights) or go scout rail. Or say to hell with it and just shoot irons.

At this point, I think I’m just gonna shoot it in irons. My tech sights are awesome.

I love the Gun, but after shooting my AK today, the mini 14 is definitely inferior to the AK as far as reliability. I only shoot OEM mags.

Wasr10 dong surplus and 922r compliance

I have a wasr10 underfolder with an ultimak and PA micro red dot.

Very accurate at 100 yards. I parachord wrapped the stock and put on of those cheap buttstock pads. I also wrapped my cheak rest.

I want to add a dong to complete the look.

How do other people do the surplus and stay compliant? I am trying to follow the 922r law.

Repaired 585 series run well?

I just recently purchased a 585 series mini 14. I’m gonna have to send it back because of peeing on the bolt.. does anyone else own a mini 14 and got it fixed from Ruger and it works without peeing?

585 series bolt peening

Does this look normal? I have about 1000 rounds through her. Got her about three weeks ago.

Last range trip I have 3-4 failures. I admit I haven’t been using grease. I just took it apart, cleaned greased and oiled.

I ordered a buffer of the recoil rod and a stronger string.

Range trip malfunctions

I shot 120 rounds with all oem mags. 10 round magazines only.

I had 3-4 malfunction. I had one stovepipe. I had one bolt lock back when the magazine still had sounds in it.

I also had a failure to extract from chamber.

I admit I only have used oil, no grease. I might have too much oil in it.

Generally speaking I am average 1-2 malfunction per 100 rounds.

I just started putting tape on 10 round magazines to label.

I am only going to use 5 round magazines next range trip and see if the problem fixes itself.

I cleaned the gun about 500 rounds ago.

Any input?

I just ordered the grease. I probably put too much clp and balistol sings I cleaned it.

I have all
Stock gas components and just installed the factory rail today. I think that was what caused the stove pipe.

The gun was very accurate.

Oil or grease? Or both?

I did not see anywhere as any owners manual that we should put grease on the gun only oil. Could someone point me out or make me aware if I’m wrong?

I know Brownells had a video on using greasing it.

Any input would be appreciated.
