What boy-girl electronic duo do you think has inherited the space that Crystal Castles left behind?
I’m not talking about “sounding like” Crystal Castles, because at this point that would either be impossible or just feel forced. I mean the space they created: that mix of electronics, chaos, strong aesthetics, punk attitude, and the feeling that you were witnessing something kind of dangerous and special at the same time.
I feel like after CC disappeared, they left behind a very specific void, and now different projects are picking up different parts of that legacy.
The ones that come to mind for me are:
Snow Strippers
Brutalismus 3000
Bassvictim
Brothel In Belize
Sidewalks and Skeletons + CASHFORGOLD
Who do you think comes closest today to what CC represented back then?
Personally, I still feel like Crystal Castles was one of the last truly mystical underground electronic acts.
