Algae nails, so hot right now.

I was going to just wear the neon yellow from my Project Polish, and then I caught sight of a teal flakey in my collection. One coat of the teal flakey over top of the neon yellow, and boom, algae nails. Perfect vibe for this year’s 4th of July.

Project Polish 2026 - Update 6

June is ending, so it’s time for a Project Polish progress report! 📝🤓📊

* I did 12 manis and 4 pedis in June. Since I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do as many manis this month, I stuck pretty close to the Project Polish options; only one of the manis contained non-Project Polish shades. Also, I don’t have many new mani photos to share - it’s been a lot of repeats from what I posted in the previous months.

* I used the bright blue crème 6 times, and it is finished! Overall, I got 19 uses out of that 15ml bottle. I would absolutely buy another shade like this in the future, but I’d want a better brush.

* I used the super shimmery blue-based polish 5 times, and it is also finished! That 15ml bottle gave me 16 uses. I liked this shade, but I’m wary of buying more from this brand because I didn’t like the formula.

* I used the blue-to-purple shimmer topper 5 times. I had to add thinner, so the fill line progress is less than I would have expected.

* I used the matte topper 2 times. I haven’t been as interested in matte nails this month. It’s summer, and I want shiny, glossy nails.

With two more polishes finished, I’m now at 13 bottles done for the year. I originally thought I’d maybe finish 15 polishes all year, so I’m now thinking I could aim to finish 20 bottles by the end of the year.

I anticipate less usage overall in July. I will be carrying on with the blue-to-purple shimmer topper and the matte topcoat, and I’m adding in a simple black crème that is already 2/3 gone and a neon yellow that needs three coats and is only a 10ml bottle. That way I should still see some good progress, even if they only get used a couple of times next month. 😎

Thanks for reading, see you next time.

Project Polish 2026 Update 5

Hello again - it’s Project Polish time. Let’s talk about how it went in May:

* I did 19 manis and 4 pedis. 7 of the manis and 1 pedi used non-PP shades.

* I finished up the light pinkish-purple crème in two uses. I kind of miss it! Purples are my favorites. I will likely buy a similar shade in the future, whenever I decide I’ve whittled my collection down enough. I have so many purples at the moment.

* I used the bright blue crème 6 times. This color is so nice, and I have several toppers that work with it. I predict it will be finished next month.

* I used the blue-to-purple shimmer topper 3 times. Progress is slow with this one. No worries, I still like it and don’t mind if it stays around for a while.

* I used the super shimmery blue-based polish 4 times. I find this one dries really weird - like it is sort of gummy? I still like how it looks color-wise, but sometimes the drying issue is too annoying to bother with it. I may end up using it more as a topper so it’s only one coat.

* Finally, I used the matte topper 3 times. Slow & steady progress.

Polishes finished so far this year: 11! I’m also please to report no purchases in May except top and base coat, AND I gave away 25 polishes from my declutter box. 🎉

I’m not adding any new polishes into the project next month, so I will carry on with the blue crème, the topper, the blue-based shimmer, and the matte topcoat. It’s summer now, so my polish usage may dip a bit while I’m out enjoying the nice weather. 😎 Also,  I plan to reassess my project goals at the end of next month, since we will be at the halfway point of the year then.

Thanks for following my progress, and know that I’m reading and following along with everyone else’s Project Polish posts, too. It’s my favorite content. 🫶

Finally decluttering some polishes 🎉

I just posted a lot of 25 polishes and some gems and stamping tools on my local Buy Nothing page, and I’m feeling really good about it! I’ve been going back and forth for ages on whether I wanted to keep some of them. Today I finally decided I’m ready to let them go to someone else. I figure if I don’t get any takers on the Buy Nothing page, then I will take them to a donation center near me this weekend.

This feels like a victory and a solid step in the direction of having my collection just be polishes that I absolutely love. I’m feeling really good about this!

Alright, it’s time for another PP update. April was a bit busier for me, so I painted my nails slightly less often, but I still made good progress. Here we go:

* I painted my nails 15 times and did 4 pedicures as well. Only 1 of the manis did not use any Project Polish shades.

* I wore the light pinkish-purple crème 8 times. It’s sooo close to being done. The last pedi I attempted did not dry well at all. I think there are one or two uses left in the bottle, but if the next one dries poorly, I will call this one done.

* I wore the bright aqua crème 3 times, and I think I’m going to call it done. I got 14 uses out of this 13ml bottle. I would not buy this one again - it was inexpensive, but it needed three coats, and it looked thick on the nail. (Looking at the bottle photo, I’m now wondering if maybe I could get one more pedicure out of this using the technique of using a longer brush from another empty polish? Hmm. No. I don’t want to bother. It’s done.)

* I also finished the purple jelly with shifty shimmer after three more uses. It looks like I got 34 coats out of this 13ml bottle. I have such a love-hate relationship with this one. The shimmer is stunning, and it looks so pretty in the bottle, but the base is too sheer to build up enough on the nail. I used this one as a topper more than on its own. I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

* I also finished the frankenpolish holo topper with 3 final uses. I didn’t track usage on this bottle over time, but I know I used it 6 times total in the project. I have a favorite holo topper that I would buy instead of buying polish to re-franken this one.

* And finally, I used the matte topcoat 3 times. Originally, I had only planned to use this once per month for 12 times in the year. I’m up to 13 uses already, so my new goal will be to just keep using it a bit each month and hopefully finish it by the end of the year.

This brings my 2026 total to 10 bottles so far, which is great! I also finished a bottle of base coat and a bottle of topcoat in April.

For May, I’ll aim to finish the pinkish-purple crème, and I’m adding in three polishes:

* a bright blue crème - this one is so bright, and I really like it. But I received a similar polish as a gift, so I’d like to finish this one.

* a blue-to-purple shimmer topper with silver sparkles - this one is so pretty but it only works over dark polishes because the base is like a dirty gray. It may take a while  to get through if I don’t feel like wearing dark polishes over the summer.

* anextremely shimmery polish with a bright blue base - this one may be tough. I can’t use it in very many different ways, and I’m not in love with the shimmer or the way it looks on me. If it turns into a hate pan, I’ll kick it out of the project and into my declutter bin.

In other news, I made it through April without buying any polish 🎉 but I haven’t yet decluttered the ones in my declutter bin. I hope to post them on Buy Nothing next week and let them go to a new home. I think it will be a relief to just let those polishes go, finally.

Wishing everyone well as we finish up spring and head into summer! 😎 (And if you’re in the southern hemisphere, wishing you some cozy fall vibes.)
