Road to 528, Daily Update 6

Update: Yesterday was an academic disaster lmao. So many side quests just came up out of nowhere. SO, today I am basically doing what I set out to do yesterday. Greatest lock in incoming haha. I need to get to ch 8 psych and soc today to stay on track, so its looking like a long day.

* Will still do my daily CARS passages, and the corresponding Pankow ankis for PS. Putting CHEM and PHYS on hold for today.

Road to 528, Daily Update 5

Update: Shorter update today, I had something typed out but my computer crashed and the post didn't save :(

Long story short; attempted ankis for each of the chapters I've read up to this point. I'm on chapter 5 for psych and soc, chapter 9 for bio, chapter 4 for biochem, chapter 5 for gen chem, chapter 4 for ochem, and chapter 4 for physics and math. CARS was better yesterday, but I'm noticing a trend where I just tend to perform worse on my last passage of the day. I think it's an endurance thing that will get fixed with time.

Today I am going to focus largely on psych and soc so I can hopefully see all the content at least once (1st pass through) by Saturday.

Road to 528, Daily Update 4

Update:

I studied outside and got attacked by wasps. An overwhelming amount of wasps. Luckily I didn't get stung, but its bound to happen eventually if it becomes a recurring experience.

Yesterday I did 3 CARS passages from JW. 2/3 went really well, but the last one, we don't talk about it. I'm currently doing each passage untimed so I can figure out my strategy, and I'm hoping I'll acquire a good pace naturally over time. I got halfway through the biochem chapter I was working on, but got bored and decided to do bio instead. I read through the kaplan chapter on the cardiovascular system, and attempted all the end of section questions. I also ended up reading through 2 chapters of gen chem. Didn't get around to ochem though. Today I am going to finally finish reading the biochem chapter I was working on, and hopefully get through 2 psych and soc chapters. I finally have a planned date to write my first diagnostic FL.

Is JW a good CARS resource? If there are any other resources that are better please lmk. Thanks!

Road to 528, Daily Update 3

I'm going to start off and say that I appreciate all the feedback I've been getting so far! I've made some modifications to my routine using the advice I've received.

I'd like to address the concern about the pace I'm going at. Many of you commented or dmed me about the 5+ chapters I'm doing a day. This has only* been possible because I've been doing well on the diagnostic quizzes at the beginning of each Kaplan chapter. So far, I've dropped a max of 1 question out of the 15 questions for each chapter's respective diagnostic quiz. Naturally, I've had to spend less time reading each chapter because the content is still fresh in my head up to this point. However, I anticipate that my pace is going to slow down quite significantly once I get deeper into psych and soc. When I say a chapter is done, I am referring only* to the textbook reading, end of section questions, and diagnostic quizzes. I am doing the corresponding anki's for each chapter the next day so I have some sort of repeated exposure.

Update: Yesterday went quite well, but I didn't allocate an equal amount of time to each subject. I had finished (see terms/definition above) 4 chapters by 11am, so I honestly just took a break until getting back to studying from 3pm to 6pm. I proceeded to read 2 more bio chapters (endocrine and resp). I had the intention of focussing more on biochem like I said I would, but I really did not care to read about lipid structure / function for the 1000th time (this is a problem I have to face today lol).

Today, I got to campus at ~5:00am, but it seems like its going to be a slower day in terms of productivity. I am aiming to finish reading 4 chapters (1 biochem, 1 gen chem, 1 O chem, 1 psych + soc) by the end of the day. I'll try to attempt 3 CARS passages, and I'll slowly build my way up to 4 or 5 daily (at the very least).

Road to 528, Daily Update 2

Daily Update 2: Got to campus a bit later today (5:30 am). Studying inside since its raining quite a bit where I'm at. Yesterday I managed to get through 5 chapters from the Kaplan books (1 for bio, biochem, gen chem, o chem, and behaviour). Today, I'm focussing more on physics, biochem, and psych + soc. And ofc, I'm making sure to do my daily CARS passage.

Road to 528, Daily Update 1

I posted a few days ago asking for advice on how to approach the MCAT. Thanks for all the help!

Now that I have nothing else to lose, I'm giving this my all. I know yall probably don't gaf, but I've decided to document the process, and provide updates everyday. And, I'll drop a bar of wisdom too. After all, I'm OneUnderstanding.

Update 1: Arrived at campus at 4:30am. Decided to study outside today, and as soon as I got my laptop out it started raining lol. Also got into an altercation with a squirrel over my bagel from tims.

525+ MCAT Scorers

I'm back on my feet, and more locked in then ever. This time its personal. I have 3 months until my test date. I haven't seen psych and soc before, but I have earned A's in PHYS 1 and 2, Gen chem 1 and 2, OCHEM 1 and 2, and all my Bio + Physiology + Anatomy classes. I don't know when I should take my first diagnostic FL, how long I should spend on content review, if I should use Khan Academy instead of Kaplan (vice versa). As for CARS, also no clue about what I should be doing. I got a 740 on the SAT reading and writing back in the day if that means anything lol (probably means jack shit). Given that I will be studying full time, how should I be approaching this?

ANAT AAC's Honours (6 classes)

Hi, I'm going into my 3rd year of ANAT and Cell Bio and I'm now on the Honours track. I need to take 6 AAC's, but I want to make sure I'm taking classes which are interesting, and taught well. And also, I'm trying to maintain a high GPA. Any suggestions on which ones I should take?
