Am I doomed for not speaking high level German for finding a flat?

I will soon move to Bielefeld to work as a wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin with a relatively good income, so I think my profile may not be too bad as a tenant from that regard (non-smoker, no pets, ...), but I am freaking out about my language skills. My German may be around B1 and while I can understand a lot, my speaking is challenging and full of mistakes. Although I am writing to ads in German, I don't know whether or how I should inform them that I am not a fluent speaker, and how negative it is to mention that I am still learning. I am worried about meeting the landlords in person and disappoint them with my German (talk about social anxiety...).

So, international people with no/little/basic German knowledge, how did you manage contacting the landlords? and what did you do in the personal meeting? German people, any tips?

I know this is a specific and stupid question but I would really appreciate any experiences!
