am I being sensitive or is this normal in healthcare?

I’ve been working for a site that varies from 40-100 patients a day for about a month now and I feel absolutely miserable. I’ve had my license for a while but just recently got a job so I knew I wouldn’t be that great starting out, but I’m given no grace and no patience at this clinic. I work with a small team and they make me take on most of the work without properly teaching me things. If I don’t do something exactly the way they want me to after one observation (ie. accidentally navigating to the wrong website first when verifying insurance) they reprimand me in front of patients. When I’m drawing blood in the back, they talk loudly in the front about how I’m not a good phlebotomist, that I’m slow, or how they hate training me. They also threaten to transfer or fire me at every instance (I’ve been waiting for it tbh). I also get called names and get compared to the previous phlebotomist most days.

I’ve been wondering if I’m just taking it too personally. I understand my “mentor” is upset because they didn’t want to train anyone and the company sent me over, but I don’t think it warrants this type of disrespect towards me. What confuses me is that some hours of the day they’re cordial with me and make it seem like I’m allowed to be a beginner, and then they do a 360 and insult my whole being. I’ve only stuck it out this long because I need the income and I want to get into a professional health program one day, but I’m losing a lot of hope and love for healthcare because of this environment. The only bright side is that I now know how to verify pt insurance and I barely miss a vein now.
