Knulli N64 Emulation with Miyoo Flip
I switched over to Knulli to try out its N64 emulation but I'm running into a problem. I want to see if anyone else is having this experience or if they're not.
Libretro Mupen64Plus core with GlideN64
Miyoo Flip V2
Latest Knulli version
Playing Starcraft 64, performance is pretty great until it's not.
For example, I start the first mission, I move the marines and SCVs across the map to Jim Raynor. Once they reach Jim Raynor, usually a slight stutter begins then the performance suddenly tanks and the system locks up. Sometimes I'm able to get past this point without issue, but inevitably the game will lock up when some type of interaction happens between units.
What could be causing this behavior? I'm hoping to find some setting I can adjust that the emulation is tripping over. I can't figure why the game would be running so well then completely lock up.
With Spruce OS, Mupen64Plus-Next Standalone was able to play the game fine, but N64 emulation on Spruce seems like it needs a bit of maintenance. Knulli Libretro Mupen64Plus actually runs better until it locks up.
The other cores don't seem to work.
Libretro: Parallel N64 = Black screen with audio then extreme artifacting
Standalone Mupen64Plus: Glide64MK2 = Black screen with audio
Standalone Mupen64Plus: Rice = No boot
Libretro: Mupen64Plus-Next = runs great but freezes
Edit: So I've formatted and put Spruce OS back on the card, but I had the game lock up in the Standalone Mupen64Plus like what was happening with Libretro Mupen64Plus in Knulli.
I was able to play pretty far before without any lock ups so I'm not sure what I could have done to make it lock up in the standalone with Spruce OS. I've reset the settings and will be testing it more but these system freezes might be unique to my situation somehow. N64 emulation actually isn't too shabby on the device. Not perfect but definitely good enough for a bunch of games.
