Kerdi Board Sucks
I am a first time DIY shower builder, so take this opinion for what it is worth. I decided to go with kerdi board. It seemed really simple at first but as I continue through each of the stages, it seems like such a hassle. Patching all the fasteners, making sure corners are all crisp, dealing with the unevenness that the kerdi band creates, and WORST OF ALL, trying to collapse the ridges on the ceiling but the kerdi board just flexes so you can’t (I did the recommended stud spacing for ceilings). I can’t help but think I would have saved about 10 hours just using cement board and hydroban.
