Hypertension postpartum 13 months
I was diagnosed with hypertension 5 days after giving birth. I’m now 13 months postpartum. I had no history of high blood pressure before pregnancy.
At first, I was on a higher dose of medication, but for the past 6 months I’ve only been taking 30 mg of nifedipine. The problem is that checking my blood pressure makes me extremely anxious. Every time I use the BP machine, I get nervous and start shaking, so I avoid checking it often.
Today I finally checked it while literally shaking from anxiety, and it was still 141/95.
My doctor said that for now I still need medication and that it might become maintenance long-term, but I don’t know if that means forever. I’m just so tired of dealing with blood pressure being high sometimes and low other times. I really want to get better and feel normal again.
