22M. Figuring out investments for the first time
Hi, I'm 22M. Been living in Blr and able to save ~15-20k per month which I want to invest every month. Coming fresh out of college, I have no past investments, and no experience/knowledge of investments whatsoever. With my father's advice, I've taken a Term Insurance of 2Cr with 1.4k p.m. premium.
However, I've been reading up a lot in this sub, articles, and few other subs. From what I've understood, a few things to note are -
- Best investment for starters are Mutual Funds.
- There are two types of funds, Debt Funds and Equity Funds. Debt Funds are safer and offers lower returns vis-a-vis Equity Funds.
- Investments should be spread out into multiple assets, various MFs, Gold, Silver, etc.
- Trusted investment apps are Groww and Zerodha.
My question is, what are some things I should look out for while deciding where to put this money? Any numbers/stats I should eyeball for MFs to decide if its good? Are there any go-to no brainer starters?
Given that I'm just starting out, do things like diversification etc. really matter at this stage ?
Lastly, I have 40k lumpsum at hand. Should I put that all-in at once or just put 15k and save the else in liquid?
Thank you for taking out the time to read this. Hoping for some important pointers to help start for my investment journey.
