Please help me reconcile the appearance in part 3 at the beginning. I thought near the end of part 2 it was in the DeLorean when it got zapped. What did I miss?

Anyone notice that his wedding ring is on his middle finger? Has he said anything about it? I didn’t know if it was just needing to get the ring resized or if there’s something else going on.
