Has anyone rented from / dealt with this person before? Suspicious rental arrangement in Singapore
Hi everyone, I’m trying to find out whether anyone has previously rented a room or apartment from, or had any rental dealings with, this person in Singapore. +6591821904
I recently contacted her regarding a room for long-term rental, and the more I communicated with her, the more red flags I noticed.
From what I understand, she is a foreigner currently staying in Singapore, but she told me that she does not stay in the unit that she is renting out. I am therefore unclear whether she is the actual owner, an authorised property agent, a main tenant subletting rooms, or acting on behalf of somebody else.
When I told her I wanted a bigger room for a long-term rental, she also seemed able to very quickly source and offer me other rooms. This made me even more curious about what her actual role is and whether these rooms are legitimately being rented out.
I asked her to send me a video of the room so I could verify the condition before proceeding. She kept assuring me that the condition was very good, but from the video she sent, it honestly did not look that way to me.
The part that confused me even more was that she repeatedly said she doesn’t stay there, yet when I requested a video of the room, she was able to send me one almost immediately that appeared to show herself in the video.
Maybe there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this, but taken together, the whole interaction feels very unusual and raised enough red flags that I am not comfortable proceeding without doing more checks.
To be clear, I am not accusing her of running a scam or illegally renting out the property. I am posting because I genuinely want to verify whether anyone has successfully dealt with her before and whether she is actually authorised to rent out these rooms.
Has anyone here rented from or dealt with her before? In particular, has anyone:
Successfully rented a room from her and moved in?
Verified who actually owns the property?
Confirmed whether she is the owner, authorised agent, or authorised tenant?
Paid her a deposit/rental and had no issues afterward?
Encountered the same person advertising multiple rooms or properties?

I haven’t transferred any money and I’m trying to verify everything first. The whole arrangement feels quite shady to me at this point, and I would rather be cautious than find out too late that something is wrong.
If there is genuinely unauthorised or improper subletting involved, then I also think it is something the relevant Singapore authorities should look into. But for now, I am trying to establish the facts and see whether anyone else has experience with the same person.
