Have an offer to join a "recon" battalion. Was told this involves "special operations." Maybe it's me being paranoid, but this sounds a bit like a bait and switch. From the very little I thought I understood about this war, I thought true recon was done by drones. However, I've also heard from some guys currently in recon units that they're relatively chill.

For those of you who are currently in recon units/have been there recently: what was your experience like? How close to true recon were the ops?
