What to do with unused credits?

Hello! Non-tech person here. Relatively new to Base44, started using about three months ago, convinced my cousin to switch over his dated Wordpress WooCommerce site to Base44.

My cousin got me the Pro account for a year. I’ve built his full site and left with this much credit, what should I do with it?

After six months in China…

Hey guys,

I’m from Hong Kong, grew up in Toronto. Couple of years I moved back to Hong Kong to live with my parents to save up money to start an online business.

I’m not an expert, but here’s what I see:

  1. Never go with the first supplier you found

Maybe it’s something superstitious? I never go with the first supplier I find.

When you go to China for the first time, you always find the first factory fascinating. Why? Because it’s your first impression! Then you shop around and you would realize there are a lot of other options. Don’t undermine the smaller moms and pops factories that run their entire operation out of a 3 -storey family home, sometimes they offer the most flexibility and easy to work with.

  1. You need someone in your team who speaks Chinese and tell you the truth

I’m lucky enough to understand enough Mandarin to realize how much promises thrown at me were actually BS. Yes, people will BS you 100%

Bring a Chinese friend with you, understand what’s going on first, then execute. When your mind is confused you won’t be able to make the best decision.

  1. Quality is king

I know the name “made in China” has been stigmatized for many years. I sometimes find things I buy on the internet is absolutely garbage. Why create one more thing to be thrown away. But the truth is, the quality of made in China can be bad, but it doesn’t mean that the craftsmanship is bad. If you are lucky to find factory where you can work directly with the design team, then you’re good to go. So try to find a way to work with the production and design team. Find the best material you can source.
Don’t be cheap on this!

  1. Location location location. The factory location matters

It’s not a retail location, why does it matter? You often hear about location location location in order to run a successful business. But guess what, your supplier too. I, naively thought- ok, I’ve moved back to Hong Kong, I can easily have all the access to suppliers in China at my footstep. Nope, I was wrong. Yes, making a one way 6-hour high speed train ride to Chengdu is not that bad, but imagine you have to do it round trip, 6 times a month, you’ll be exhausted. That’s why I always and only find factories in Guangzhou. It’s only 1.5 hours away from me, if anything needs my attention, I can do a round trip within a day. (Honestly it’s still a lot of travels considering the border crossing & immigration, and the journey is not point to point, which adds at least 1-2 extra hours to the commute)

Any entrepreneurs here would like to share your thoughts?
