23(F), Bleeding for 3+ weeks straight with PCOS, high prolactin & high AMH —anyone else experienced this? (Plus childfree/surgery questions
Hey everyone,
I was diagnosed with PCOS/PCOD about 3–4 years ago. I currently work night shifts, which has been a major stressor on my body, though I’m holding out for a bit longer until I leave my job to pursue studies abroad.
I’m posting to share what I’m going through so anyone in a similar boat knows they aren't alone, and also to see if anyone has insights or similar experiences to share.
What's Happening Right Now -
I used to get irregular periods with 1.5 to 2-month gaps, but this year has been particularly tough. By June, I hadn't had a period in 3 months, so my doctor gave me a prescription to induce it. After that, I didn't bleed again until September 11. It started with a week of spotting, turned into a normal flow, and I thought that was it... except it's now October 1st and I AM STILL BLEEDING.
It's a consistent low-to-medium flow. Thankfully, I don't have severe physical pain and my blood levels/hemoglobin are completely fine on my tests, but I am SO TIRED of constantly changing pads, seeing blood every single day, and dealing with major mood swings, which lead me to crash out on my partner sometimes. I've also noticed hyperpigmentation starting to pop up on my face. I have been to a gynac and got some medicines but I am here to see what others say about this.
My Recent Lab Results
I recently got a full lab panel done. While my blood count is intact, a few key things came back off the charts:
* Prolactin: Very high at 82.88 ng/mL
* AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone): Elevated at 13.00 ng/mL
* Lipid Profile: Total cholesterol (254 mg/dL) and LDL (179 mg/dL) are both high
Just for the record, my weight hasn't changed from 60 kgs in the past year. It goes slightly up and down sometimes. I'm 5'3 in height.
A Quick Note / Request
Please be kind in the comments. My mom constantly blames my condition on eating junk food ("it's all because of what you eat"), and the constant guilt-tripping is exhausting. I’m doing my best while working nights, so please no unsolicited judgment or rude comments about lifestyle choices.
Permanent Options / Childfree Questions
I never want to be pregnant. For anyone who feels the same or has dealt with chronic PCOS bleeding: have you looked into or undergone a tubal ligation or hysterectomy? Did it help manage continuous bleeding, or did doctors give you a hard time about it?
Thanks so much for taking the time to read. Any gentle advice, shared experiences, or words of support mean a lot right now.
