I'd like to start by saying that yes I know some people have learning challenges and English isn't always a first language for people.

With that said, I'm shocked by how many people I've met here don't know basic grammar. I've seen people struggle with:

- their, there, they're

- possessive vs contraction use of apostrophes (it's vs its)

- capitalization

- basic sentence structure

This is just to name what I can think of off the top of my head. Obviously this is one thing in texts but I see this in stuff I'm peer reviewing and formal stuff. How do people not know this by the time they reach college? How can you expect to succeed if you don't even have a grasp of how to communicate properly at a basic level?
