Hello all,

I have a 50 miler in 5 weeks and Arc Of Attrition 50 miler in january.
What are some good packable and passable waterproof jackets + trousers for UTMB events?
I’ve been looking at a few but want to know from experienced people!

daily runners

Hello all,
Curious what you’re wearing for your daily runners. I’ve been using the Hoka Challanger 8s for over a year. 4 pairs later. I LOVE them. but i just fancy a change up as im moving areas and will be a lot of road running 🤮.
I’m looking for something with a wide toe box and just super cushioned for a lot of miles.

Thank you!

Replica geari

Hello all,
Is there anywhere you can search for replica items of clothing? or do you guys know any alternatives?

I really want this KETL No Fry sun shirt as it is “featherweight” and offers UPF30 sun protection. This is perfect for me as someone who spends all day outside for both work, running and hiking.
However the shipping to where i live is £50+ (more than the price of the shirt).

Is there any retailers in southwest UK that stock this or am i shit out of luck?
Do you know any similar alternatives?

Thank you in advance.

chafing on long runs

Hello all,
I have become victim to chafing.

When i first started running 2 years ago i began to get mild chafing on my inner thighs. I got some “Danish Endurance” boxers and my problem was solved. I’ve ran distances from 5km to 50km with no issue.

However, now that it’s extremely warm in the UK. Any run i do over 10km, no matter the shorts, the underwear, the second skin, the anti chafing cream. I chafe EVERYWHERE down there..

What shorts, underwear or creams do you guys suggest for a guy with big quads and chafing issues everywhere from hips to above the knees 😂.

Appreciate the suggestions in advance!

training plan for 50 miler

Hello all,
looking for a bit of advice.

47 mile ultra with 1600m+ elevation.

I have been non stop structured training since July 2025 for different races. Have been actively training for my ultra (sept 19) for the last 8 weeks but non structured to give myself a bit of mental relaxation.

I am 21, a general builder who spends 9+ hours on feet 5 days a week at work, started to incorporate cycling commuting as part of my training (averages out at 130km/week), 2 leg sessions a week 1 light 1 heavy (0 upper body due to work load + training focus), have consistently ran 45-60km a week for over a year and due to being a dog dad i walk about 20-30km/week on top of training.

I have used chat gpt for a base plan due to lack of funds for a proper coach. please see the attached picture for the structure it has produced. It is suggesting back-to-back long runs on weeks starting 17th august (30km sat + 20km sun) and 24th august (40km sat + 20km sun) before a two week taper.

As this is my first Ultra over 50km i am completely jumping into the unknown and it scares the hell out of me, but this is why i do it.

Is this a sensible volume increase? Is this training volume sustainable? Will i feel tired heading into race week with only two weeks of taper? Should i reduce running and increase cycling or the opposite?

Is there anything your experience would recommend or suggest to make these weeks more suitable/optimal? Is there also any recommendations on maximising recovery during HEAVY weeks?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and comment! Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Gear

I’ve ran 2 50km ultras and many many trail marathons. I also hike an incredible amount! I am making my way up to 100 miles. that’s the end goal right now.

I am heavily invested in kit, i truely believe that kit (apart from nutrition) is the reason for most dnfs.

I am interested in some of your favourite pieces of equipment, let me know in the comments! no matter how important or necessary, i want to know the little things too. The things that came in handy when you didn’t expect them too.

I want to expand my equipment knowledge and look into brands i haven’t heard of.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions 🏃⛰️

long sleeve tops

Hello all,
Mandatory kit for 100 miler (a spare long sleeved top).

Wondering what long sleeves you all recommend, i’ll probably wear it for hiking in the autumn/winter so don’t mind spending a little extra.

Looking for something breathable and well fitting.

Thank you in advance

Headtorch Recommendations

Hello all,
Running my first 100 miler in september and i am putting together a list of my mandatory kit.

It states on there a headtorch with a spare battery.

I dont want to cheap out on something that is going to be incredibly important and i wont only use it for running so it make sense to spend the extra penny.

I want something that is bright and lightweight.

Thank you in advance.
