Lyme Disease in 6 Year Old Lab.
Hi all our 6 year old male Lab. has tested positive for Lyme. He caught it even though he was taking a tick preventative.
Currently he is on Doxy and has about 10 days left before he completes the 30 day treatment. Generally he has improved in energy and vitality. I would say all is looking good EXCEPT he does not want to eat or even drink.
We give an I.V daily and if we are lucky he will take a few sips of water on his own. He does not seem to like any food apart from Milk Bones. He used to love food of all kinds. Now he won't eat meat, or rice, or eggs, or kibble or bread or anything. This has led us to having to force him to take food so he will take his antibiotics.
Forcing him to take food I think only increases his aversion. We are giving him anti nausea meds and an appetite stimulant. However, nothing seems to really work.
