Mice to see you all

Mice to see you all

So nice to see you all again!

The CAPS-UAW RTO working group member is back with a new way you can join the 4-day RTO fight.

If our collaborator-in-chief “gets it done” and we are all back in office 4 days a week in a little over a month we’ll get to experience the joys of overhearing 15 simultaneous Teams calls, collaborating via hallway small talk, and paying ~$260 a week to do the same work from a less comfortable chair. Don’t worry though because we’ll get to relieve stress by interacting with therapy critters like the star of our latest Instagram post 🪳✨.

Do you have any other workplace friends Gavin would enjoy seeing? Mice? Roaches? Mystery breakroom fauna? Use our workplace issue reporting form and select “Health and safety issues” to share your pictures with us so we can make sure our Governor isn’t lonely!

I’ll be back very soon with more ways to join the fight, but I’ve got to return some software at Best Buy.

PS I’ve heard the weather is supposed to be beautiful on June 3rd.

Hi all,

The CAPS-UAW RTO working group member is back with some more ways you can join the 4-day RTO fight.

First: Attend the Rally for California Science at noon on May 4th at the State Capitol! During this rally CAPS-UAW members will be demanding that Newsom place the California Health & Science Research Bond on the 2026 ballot. This bond would fund critical scientific programs in California that are at risk of being cut by the Trump Administration. These funding cuts, like RTO, are direct attacks on scientists.

After the rally, we will march our RTO bargaining demands to CalHR. You can RSVP here.

It's important to have a strong showing at this event, because it will have national attention since the president of UAW Shawn Fain will be attending (you know, one of those groups that people running for president like to have endorse them). This media attention means it’s a great opportunity to bring attention to our RTO fight.

Second: Sign up to share your story! Sharing our stories reminds the State, the Legislature, and the public that we are human beings. They also help communicate how this short sighted order affects our career progression, and talent retention.

Third: Catch up on past actions you may have missed! The CAPS-UAW website has information on how you can join in on current actions like the State Worker Union Coalition Sign-On Letter or contacting your reps to tell them you support the Telework Bill (AB 1729). We also have RTO related media like virtual backgrounds and anti-RTO flyers you can post at your office.

Stay tuned for more actions that we will be announcing soon!
